From the C Store:

I'd love to be able to get... more off-duty selections, like shirtless swimwear for Risa.
ST:Motion Picture uniforms.
Borg Outfits
And even more ships :p

Playable Borg (yes, I'd pay through the nose for it, too)
And even more ships :p

And, if no playable Borg in the C-Store, I'd like it re-instated to the lifetime membership plan. As it stands, I have no reason to get a lifetime membership, cause all I wanted from that is to play a Borg.

So, yes, Cryptic Devs, I'd pay $300 to get a playable Borg... pity you don't offer one!
it should be free, there is already a lot in the cstore. i didn't buy an subscription so i can buy everything in the c-store. this game was / is unfinisht, cryptic doesn't have to put all the cool goodies in the store.

please don't say we already have some cool goodies / missions / stuff, those are epic updates that should be ready when this game was launched.

as long people buy for real money goodies, as long cryptic milk players.
(like the new fed ships)

my idea of the cool goodies is to earn them by doing something ingame (and not 'make 5 friends to buy an subscription)

Even if they made all the crap in the c store free today, the game would still be unfinished. It's not like they are holding back real content in the store. All the stuff is useless fluff that some people are foolish enough to spend real money on. I'll take major season updates and patches for free as they have been doing since launch over all the "cool stuff" people seemed to be so worked up over. You want you free ship so bad and I think it's silly because I'd much rather have something new to do with my old ship.

remember:

subscribers are quickly approaching the $100 spent on subscription fees alone.

a hundred bucks.....

for a prematurely released MMO with the smallest amount of content I personally have ever seen in an touted full-scale MMO.

and it still is unfinished....and we are 'STILL' paying sub fees.... and still waiting.

and they think its "OK" to drop these $25 skins on us, and then saying "YOU players are the ones who wanted this, so we are gonna charge you this slap-in-the-face price".

hey STO ! we 'players' want what we paid for...... "PAID" is the key word.

how many of you have shelled out over $300 so far in this game ? ...

the box price and sub fee (or lifetime) .... what are those for again ??

Yup. Cryptic has clearly rolled us early adopters for money. STO will go down in MMO history as one of the top release success stories (they made a bundle at launch) with one of the worst/lowest continued subscription base.

I paid...
  • $60 Champions Online sub just to get "guaranteed" access to STO closed beta
  • $239.99 for lifetime sub
  • $59.95 for STO Digital Deluxe Edition from Direct2Drive
  • $79.99 for STO Collector's Edition from Gamestop
  • $62.50 for 5000 Cryptic points (still have a ton left)
That's $502.43 spent on an unfinished product that I rarely play anymore because content updates are far and few in-between, let alone the content itself is boring and repetitive.

Some of the spending was purely my fault (the collector's edition and the Cryptic points), but the lifetime sub, CO sub, and initial DDE were bought based upon what Cryptic said STO was going to be. And it never became even a sliver of what the community was told during development and the two betas. Oh well. $500 blown on a cruddy MMO is a lesson for me (I never spent that much before on any single game, MMO or not).

you know...you might be onto something here.

I have a feeling "Nobody" here has spent even near this much on a game before, myself included.

it just shows the loyalty and love of the Star Trek genre by the fans....

.... and now the ugly head of greed and the ability to take advantage of us has surfaced as a byproduct.

The jokes on us guys. Our love for Star Trek has classified us as a " flowing funds demographic "

That's nothing new. There's a reason that seasons of TNG cost $110 when they were first released as compared to seasons of other dramas like Law & Order or The West Wing, which came out of the gate only costing $40-50.

Indeed. And I'm not even a "Trekkie" either. I'm a "Trekker" who's a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, and other sci-fi.

I'll probably get a lifetime sub with SWTOR coming out next year, but I'm certainly not going to be duped into all of the pre-order promotion crud. I'm sure Bioware/EA will be a little more honest than Cryptic with "exclusives" and such, but all-in-all Cryptic very much soured me on MMO promotion/propaganda.

You can get Voyager, DS9, TNG, and others from Walmart now for around $40/boxed season. But yes, overpriced when they came out which is why I never bothered.
