also Cruisin, changing Team healing isn't going to change the rate that Teams chew through Pugs.

Infact it will make it even worse for pugs as Teams are the best at coordinating fire.

Team healing is fine.
I found this post kinda amusing:

It could be interpreted the game is balanced well - all ships are used to their strengths. Escorts deal damanage, Cruisers heal, Science Vessels provide crowd control. Isn't that exactly what we want?

"Yes, yes, but not this way." :p

To be "fair", I don't necessarily things are quite as rosy, but I definitely don't think that "starting from scratch" is the right answer, more like "finetuning a few things".

And, to be quite frank - too much healing or spam is not as relevant as new maps and game modes...

(BTW, the thread with that post is closed - the reasoning given by the GM seems off, but I ultimately agree that we do not need 10 or whatever threads on the same topic created by the same poster.)

More is on the way, but the above is in development (or already in testing) and should be out soon.
That was back in July. More than 7 months ago. If tournament queues were in development or testing back then, what went wrong?

And "more is on the way" obviously never happened.

The following PvP related stuff was mentioned in the latest Engineering Report.

I listed all stuff that would probably affect PvP. Even Lol Ground stuff. (with some luck it won't be LoL Ground after the revamp.)

So the only thing for space pvp that it is not just wishful "in discussion" or "longterm" is fixing the mess they created with tractor mines. Why am I not surprised?

I think design discussion is not merely wishful thinking. It seems to me the crucial step to pass something from "random idea out there" to "in development". Basically, it means a dev is sitting down and think about "how can we implement this"?

Just like they sat down and thought "how can we implement a tounement/leaderboard"...

That's quite a long sit down.

They said before season 2 rolled out, that they weren't planning to implement any in game tournament set up mechanics. Any tournaments we'd have to run ourselves.

Even though I've been a member since launch, I have only recently become involved in learning how to play the game. While PVP can be excruciatingly one sided at times, I am willing to consent that all MMOs are like that. It's the luck of the draw as to what kind of group you get into.

I do find it a little frustrating that both cruisers and science ships can both be effective healers. Unless you get lucky enough to be grouped with a good team, this can make pvp annoying. It happened in WOW. Healers became so OP that it took multiple DPS to take them down.

I think that's what is frustrating, at least for me, that in my Alpha strike I can chew threw a cruisers shields and starting beating their hull but then they pop their CDs and bam, they're healed, teammates show up and I run away.

Does anyone else feel as though the healing cooldowns are more potent than the dps cooldowns?

Yes... healing cooldowns, especially ones that can be applied to self, are a bit too low... the way to balance things is to take each ship 1v1 against all other "like-level" ships... when the ships are balanced between dps and survival, then it comes down to teamwork and individual skill. Cruisers and Sci vessels have both gotten major upgrades to their powers and ships... Escorts on the other hand, have had dps nerfed and their ships made even more fragile...
