# 1 Eyefinity max resolution?
08-06-2010, 06:48 PM
I'm in the final stage of a new pc build and was wondering whether or not STO supports ATI's 3-monitor Eyefinity set-up and if so if there was a max and recommended resolution to run it at...

Someone's ran it with eyefinity, though doesn't seem to be a fov option for it so it may look bit off. Though personally I'd rather get a bigger monitor than multiple, though if you can do both all the more power to you.

Yeah, I have a 22' monitor for my current pc that only goes to 1680 x 1050. The new pc will have at least a single 28' capable of 1080 resolutions, but tigerdirect just opened a store across the street from microcenter and the two of them are waging a massive price war right now so I might be able to obtain all three monitors for almost half my original budget.

If the fov is off is that because the game doesn't support non-standard aspect ratios and instead of drawing more of the game to fill the monitors it's simply stretching the image to fill the frame or is it something else?

It sounds like maybe the games max res is a standard aspect like 1920 x 1080 or something?

Most games will probably go to at least 1920x1200 (the standard monitor res before all the HDTV crap). Possibly up to the 2560 x 1440/1600 range (used by 28~30"+).

If they support eyefinity then they will go to (for a 1920x1080 monitor) 1920*3 = 5760 x 1080 and iirc there were SSs of eyefinity and it wasn't just stretched.

The resolutions are generally only displayed up to the max your monitor can handle which is why you don't see them in game.

EDIT:: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1496063 here is an SS of eyefinity working.
