As a promotion to get more people to explore the C-store and to get everyone excited, I propose that Cryptic designate a weekend as "Play For Points Weekend!" What would that entail?
- All enemies at or above your character level have a 10% chance to drop a C-Store point in addition to normal loot.
- All STFs or episode chains completed give 50 C-Store points in addition to normal rewards
- Coincides with new items released in the C-store (Ideas: New emotes, Playable Federation Orions, Renegade KDF Vulcans? etc) so there's new reasons to visit the C-store.
I doubt the devs would do something like this since the c-store is one of the main sources of income for them. Doing a survey and getting cryptic points is the only thing we will see. Besides having the 10% chance of dropping a cryptic point and getting 50 cryptic points for doing an STF will be unfair for the casual gamer. Some will get at least 500 points while others will only get 10.
The idea isn't to hurt Cryptic sales, it's to get more people into the C-store and also to provide cool (but not excessive) rewards to all players. Using the above proposal, it's take an average of 1200 kills to buy a new emote pack...so it's not like they'd be just giving free stuff away wholesale. But many C-store items are priced in non-100-point increments so for a player that stays in game a while on the event weekend, it could be enough to push them over the threshold.
This might not be a bad idea if you get just 1 point for every kill you scored highest damage on or what not like a drop itís not likely you Ďd be getting many point. Maybe youíd get a few of the odd freaks that would manage a galaxy x out of it but for the majority they may walk away with 50-200 points. Enough to buy a skin for a ship emote and other not so expensive things. Thatís only a loss of what like $2.50 bucks but if you convince even a few people pick up the extra points they need now to get those extra costume or character slots youíve made up your money remember the minimum points you can buy are 500 for $6.50
Think of it like a loss leader in a normal store I put something in get you to show up and get you in the mood to spend more. Or In the case of the c-store itís enough to burn a hole in your pocket but not enough to really afford much.
