Question: Why 21st century Formal wear when we're in the 25th Century and have no Holodecks in which to participate in period things? Wouldn't this be taking the "Dated Fashion" expression to an extreme?
Too bad we dont have the holodeck or your example would actually make sense
THIS.
If there was a setting somewhere in the game where those outfits would be in any way applicable, I could understand this addition to the game. And, who knows? Maybe it's something being worked on. But, if so, why not wait with the outfits until their presence actually makes sense?
When I saw the announcements for "Formal Outfits", I thought, "Sweet, formalwear for certain RP situations, diplomatic missions, etc. Nice touch!" Boy...what a letdown.
Cryptic: I would like to buy an additional 2 costume slots to bring my characters from 9 to 11 for these formal outfits but ever since the costume slots were brought back as account-wide unlocks they no longer let me choose off duty clothing like they did when they were originally released. Please fix this so I can give you more of my money.
All right. In an effort to check for myself what the possibilities were or weren't (and because my eyes are bleeding from doing minutia in the day job which means I needed a break anyhow), I grabbed the pack (I wanted the gowns whatever else happened) and gave it a whirl, going for something... well, 25th century.
On the whole... passable, with the tie taken off and the collar popped. The vest seems incongruous no matter what colors or patterns I did, but it's a minor thing. The coat and pants work -- especially with the lapels stripped. You can't see Brair's latinum tipped shoes here, but I assure you he's wearing them.
On the whole, it seems okay -- but just okay. I'll admit, I was hoping for something a little more Harcourt Fenton Mudd, hat optional. But, c'est ca, c'est ca.
And verified -- the female options are fine. If perhaps a touch Dabo girl, but there's nothing wrong with that. Interesting cut, interesting accenting, fits perfectly well in a 25th century setting.
