A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
I don't do Premades. Yet. But I like PuGing, actually. You never know what you get for your enemy or for your group. (Sometimes your own group is your worst enemy, sometimes they are super-awesome.) I like how unpredictable it is. I like hunting down someone with my Escort - even (or especially?) if he then turns the tables and gets me. I love supporting friends with my Cruiser, keeping that deadly Escort alive a little longer, shrugging off enemy attacks - and sometimes being overwhelmed by continued focused fire... I love my Science Officer draining shields and stopping enemies in their tracks, exposing them to my allies.
I have to admit, PVP is what keeps me playing STO.
I second a lot of the OPs points.
STO space pvp offers a style of play that you just cant get anywhere else. The closest is Darkspace and its still fairly different.
I'd also like to say the environments are beautiful... except for the transwarp gates, ugh!
I'm really glad Briar Patch is getting some play in the new queue... I <3 that map. My biggest regret flying a VoQuv is that I can no longer play Dodge Between the Roids.
Sorry this is a long one but it made me laugh yesterday. PvP is not just about the ship the gear or the BO skills but how a build can and does work with the player.
I made a poor ship, six turrets and two quantums, (one fore and one aft). I have not had a chance to get good gear for this toon so the weapons are a mix of green Mk IX and X's. Gotta love the exchange.
The consoles are Mk X armor two for kinetic one for energy, a Mk VIII RCS, a prototype Mk VI halon, a Mk X photonic, a Mk IX phaser booster, and a point defense console, (Digital Deluxe pre-order), all but the point defense console are green. Green Mk IX regenerative shields, Green Mk VIII sensor array, (the one that boosts sensors), and the blue Mk IV efficient impulse engines round out the tech package. I experiment allot with this toon's ship so literally it is between multiple builds.
Two BO's really help a Saurian and of course the Borg BO both with space efficient. The captain is a conjoined Trill engineer RAUH with warp theorist and techie traits.
The skills are all about survival, and my toon is not speced to use them all yet, I do not remember the BO skill load out but I will post them later when I get home. Photonic officer, science team, polaron inversion, high yield, cannon rapid fire, engineering team, auxilary to SIF, Emergency to weapons,
I was in FvF arena play and after we dispatched the op-for's escorts and science ships I got separated from my group while tangoing with another cruiser. After a while his team joined the fray, (I have no clue where my group was). Of course I don't deal anywhere near enough DPS so it is only a matter of time before I go pop. Four on one and I held them for at least three minutes (I was stressed but having fun so it could have been more or less time, not like I used a timer). When I finally blew up the guy I had targeted through the whole thing, and almost blew up, exclaimed in local chat, "What kind of tech was he using? Why did he take so much time to kill?" He had two levels on me so up to that moment I was happy with my display, but when my opponent said that I cheered at my screen like an idiot. It was all BO skills and my timing on those skills that let me last that long against so many.
I am certain that there are better healers out there who could have lasted longer but I am overjoyed to see that PvP is more about the player than about the gear.
What bothers me is that there are now two members in CHC who have come out and trashed my fleet on the forums, specifically saying we are avoiding the queues. That's ridiculous and if you really wanted to spy on us, you'd see that for one thing I am playing space PvP or a different MMO, because there are other MMO's that are more fun than STO for your information, or other people in my fleet are doing explores or leveling up new alts. It's contradictory that Omega is talking about "attitude" problems in his OP, whereas he is the one trash talking my fleet and in particular trash talking me after our 50 minute stand-still duel last night, comments of which I won't dignify to repost. And when I put up a good fight, no one bothers to say GG. You asked for a challenge and I gave you one, and then you turn around and trash talk me saying my damage is pitiful. Heh thank you, as if I'll want to duel you again just so you can trash talk me while I tell everyone else that you are a skilled player.
But my point is that my fleet and myself in particular has consistently praised CHC, and now my fleet is getting trashed left and right, first calling us hackers and now saying we're running away from the queue. And on top of this we get no apologies. I for one won't stand around and ignore the fact that you outright said "Then we finally defeated them, and we have NEVER seen the fister sisters in the fvk queues since" which is completely false since we haven't even had a full five person team, and also our main characters are all Klingons.
At this point, I have been point-blank attacked by almost everyone in the STO ground PvP community (for example, calling my cat outfit ugly, calling me a welfare bum, saying I can't 1v1, saying I run away, all kinds of stuff that I have screenshots of so you know who you are), yet I have never trash talked anyone else. Frankly you all need to grow up. Sure you have the right to free speech and can rub your winnings in people's faces, but it's that kind of attitude that makes people not want to queue up or play STO PvP anymore. I for one am tired of defending my fleetmates from all these ridiculous accusations.
