One man's fact is another man's incomplete data sample.

Or something...

I'm as frustrated with things as you, quite honestly, but the developers have really been open about the problems the game has. I respect the people at Cryptic for their open dialogues with us. Thing is, Cryptic answers to two other companies in regards to STO. They have to answer to Atari and CBS. What we don't know is what pressures either of these companies is putting on Cryptic to push out new updates and whatnot.

I've been a gamer for a while now, and I've seen the results of IP holders and distributors pushing developers into rushing out content. I don't know anything definitively, but this just feel like a situation where an IP holder is meddling too much in the development of a game. I can't really blame CBS after the debacle with Perpetual for feeling the need to take a more active approach, but... well, you can see the results.

As open as Cryptic has been, though, there are some things they will not say. There are some things they should not say. If I'm right, this is one of them. Unfortunately, this means that Cryptic is stuck in the position of taking the heat for things they have no control over.

It's something we may never really know, but just based on past experiences, I think that is what is going on here.
