# 1 Flickering/Missing textures
08-27-2010, 12:48 PM
Hi everyone,

I've just come back to the game and loaded it up, everything is on the recommended setting in my graphics and it's set to windowed mode. The problem i'm having is that asteroids sometimes appear as grey blobs on screen until i get closer and even then they just flicker at me. The whole environment flickers on some missions and sometimes space stations can just appear grey as if there are no textures being loaded. My frame rate is fine and everything plays normal except this darn flickering. Do i need to turn world detail up or something? or play it in fullscreen?

if anyone has any ideas i'd be very appreciative.

That's either a detail level, or painfully poor network performance. Run nettest and post the results.

thanks for the response, it didn't seem laggy or anything when i was playing, just the flickery textures.

you have a little filtering going on your connection. a good lag free connection would have 500 in column 1 and 3 and 20 in column 2.

Fast enough it wouldn't cause that sort of thing, anyway. What have you got the detail levels set to?
