A couple of points to the OP:

First, when you get sucked in, on the right side of your HUD is a button to Leave The Encounter. Just click that and you are out of there.

Second, If there is a Flagship in the area, you are actually entering the Encounter between re-set points of the mission counter. (IMHO, Taking out the Flagship is Great RP feeling!) If you kick in Evasive Maneuvers, and get beyond Weps, you can get Escorts to follow you, and pick them off one by one, then go for Momma!

i agree with the pick and fly around posts....
i agree they are annoying...
i agree that you can avoif them if you are diligant enough to do so....
i agree that it sucks when you just get done with a mission and "BAM!" your sukced in cause you were lucky enough to be next to one when you warped out of the mission back to sector space...
i agree diplo immunity is rather cheap...
i agree they are there for badge grinding and nothing mroe really....
i agree they should be optional since they are just associated with badge grinding and offer no real story value...
agree to disagree or diagree to agree, or whatever combo suits your mood...

Nice to see something resembling constructive discussion on the matter amongst the "Waaaa, suck it up you wimp" posts. I didn't realise Star Trek was made up of 10 year old, 21st century American males :3

I AM American
I AM male
I was born in 1978 (32 yo for those who can't do math)
I DID give constructive discussion on how to avoid/leave random encounters.

Just because your the type of person that likes to blindly charge face-first into walls, doesn't mean that our answers aren't valid. Just means you should take the blindfold off, and pay attention to where the hell yer going! LOL

You could ask someone who has it, because it doesn't work on yourself.

But they stop chasing you after you get a certain rank above them.

I agree, i hate it personally and i never do them, i might do them once, but thats it, the rewards you get for doing them is not worth the time and frustration with so many deaths.

If they could up the first of each day rewards to match those of named episodes, then they would be worth doing atleast once per day (every 24hrs or something) and like all rewards, if you do them at sudch a higher level then the mission, the 'once per day' bonus is not rewarded for obvious reasons.

Perfect solution.

Also, another thing, give players a choice to enter it or not.

I think they need to up the diplomatic xp gained for non-combat related missions, even a 100% increase is perfect, 20 xp per diplomat mission is good enough.

They could also set it so that each exploration mission (the one where you have to do 3 of them), atleast 1 will be a diplomatic mission.

Another perfect solution.

also remember that as you progress, fewer of the Enemy contacts will engage you. At Capt. you should already be immune to Klink, Orion and Gorn DSEs, soon you'll be immune to Romulans (if you aren't already) I think Cardies and Terrans stop attacking at RA5, and they're pretty sparse out in BU/AT anyway. Enemy Encounters are not really that much to worry about.

you never get jumped by anything ever on the KDF side

on the feddiebear side ive never had trouble hitting the "leave system" button that pops up with the "stay and fight" button menu of that window thats up when you zone in, if you die before you zone out from hitting "leave system" well you probably arent in a sector you have any buisiness being in in the first place then.....
