I thought the excelsior was supposed to be a commander level ship... what happened? I thought it was supposed to be the Search for Spock version... which was captained by CAPTAIN Styles in the 23rd century..... surely it's been downgraded and not upgraded.... ie: What happened with it being a Commander level ship??

There is a t3 version as you described it. You can buy it for ec at the shipyard.

It is also a refit like the Galaxy and Defiant classes.
