Devs, can you please add a toggle to how the camera auto-follows whatever you are targeting? Make this "feature" an option, please.
There are times in combat (or even out of combat) when I would like the camera to continue facing where I put it, instead of continually attempting to "auto-face" what I'm targeting. Personally, I'd rather have complete control over the camera without being forced to have it keep auto-following things.
Make it a toggle that can be turned on/off and have a hotkey added that you can hit to auto-face the target. That way it is a simple matter of either selecting on/off, or simply hotkeying the "auto-follow" button to do it on command.
Is this hoping for too much or something? Is this some setting that is already in the game that I'm completely missing? Having the camera forced to auto-follow whatever you are targeting is horrible. Of course, sometimes it is good to watch what you're targeting, but there are many times that it is not, especially in a space game such as this.
I'd really like for this issue to be addressed. It doesn't seem like it would be a very difficult fix, although, let me know if I'm wrong. A simple "camera auto-follow" check-box toggle would be perfect.

Not entirely sure what you mean - in space there is an camera option somewhere in the options dialog (I think under the HUD or gameplay tabs?), there are 3 types of cameras there - 'free' (my preferred camera), 'chase' (locked to your ship's tail), 'follows target'. For ground, I assume there's something similar but have never actually checked (although I should because it is a bit annoying).
[there are keybinds for camera zoom, might also be keybinds for different camera modes?]

Dear god thank you! I can't believe I missed that setting, but after you mentioning it I took a harder look and found it. That fixed my issue completely.
