Mainly for ishts and giggles...but also for a learning experience (I had flown a cruiser before, but that was several patches ago).

Other than it being a ridiculous tank which required no skill whatsoever (I was bored out of my fracking mind) I did notice one thing in particular...

Extend Shields is a fantastic skill but it can be frustrating at times. Nevermind the 5km range - just please let me deactivate it. If I ES on someone it will continue to channel for the full duration regardless if someone flies out of range, combat ends, or they've become shield capped beyond overkill. It would actually keep me in combat once everything is dead because the duration wasn't complete. Annoying and unnecessary.

/end rant

Frankly sence the nerf of ES its been one of those skills you keep on your bar but seldom even bother using, I find the ES1 so marginal that i could probably have any other skill in that slot.

I used ES all the time and I have a love/hate relationship with it. Luckily it made the game interesting because keeping someone within 5km on a slowboat was the ONLY thing that gave any significant challenge or dynamic to flying a cruiser.

I have to disagree, ES (energy siphon) was my doom at least once in pvp yesterday. The fed caught me in it a just the right moment to prevent my proper healing. It had red FX as well which I found wierd?1?

I think ES ought to have it's range improved or something, but it's till pretty useful.

I've been getting great use out of it on a Galaxy-R in escort mode. That ship can stick within a klick or two of most escorts on attack runs, and since you generally ought to be playing the Galaxy-R a lot like an escort, following one around and firing on the same targets as the escort does is pretty good for your own DPS.

The best part is that if you are right next to an escort, most people will shoot at the escort instead of you.

Red fx means tachyon beam and you probably got hit with photonic shockwave LOL its not extend shields... that only works on teamates it is not an offensive skill

No the normally little blue sparkles that follow the ES (energy siphon) as if flies in space were red instead of blue and no to PSW, as I had access to all my powers.
