What I think is we need another difficulties option. Easy - where no NPC can have any Boff powers and an PvP queues where no Boff can be used. Maybe then these players will stop asking for nerfs and let us have fun.

This reminds me of grade school. We had this game called NationBall it's like dodgeball but with teams and we used a volleyball or soccerball instill of a rubberball. We would only let 4 - 6 graders played because the younger kids couldn't handle getting hit with the hard ball.

Quote:
Nationball: It is the game where two teams play against each other in a large rectangle, which is separated by a line in the middle.

Each team starts with one player on the outside of the rectangle, on the opposite side from where they are standing. The rest of each team stands inside the rectangle. The point of the game is to hit players on the opposite team. When a player is hit, they then go on the opposite outside edge.

If the ball goes through the opposite team without hitting anyone, the people on the edge, chase after the ball, giving them the opportunity to try to hit someone again. Each time a person is hit, they must go out on the outside of the rectangle. The winning team is the team that has the last person left INSIDE the rectangle.
We are playing Nationball with soccer ball while the others can only handle dodgeball.

I never said I had a problem with my Cruiser on Elite, in fact I found them insanely easy. Especially on my Klingon Raptor, my DSSV, my BoP, and my Fed Escort. :p

Now the ground part, that's different.

So go ahead and try to turn this into an NPC issue when we know that Target Beam Subsystem Shields 3 is now the newest "I Win" button for PvP. I guarantee you, even if I don't say anything, others will have something to say.

It is? I haven't noticed, but I didn't spend much time in PvP the past few days. But it would genuinely surprise me if itwas the case, since TBSS3 was already a tactic for 1.2. Are you telling me people stopped using it because it didn't rock as much as it did, and now suddenly it does again? Or have they adjusted their expectations?

omg...

sometimes i ask me: why the hell people want to have over 20 counter for a single skill ?

...so like a lot guys here said: there are a lot counters out there. and i think: too many!!!

i myself (Eng on Refit Defiant), use BTS3... i am completly specced for (Deflector, Skills, Sci-consoles).

so my BTS 3 does -76 to shieldpowersetting, and has a 40% chance to drop all shieldfacings.

the difference between Target Subsystem Level 1 (only avaible on Sci-Ships) and Level 3 is the % chance of disabling the complete subsystem::
Level 1: 20 % (>> i dont know, i never was on a Sci-ship)
Level 2: 30%
Level 3: 40%

So, if you spec your Skills, Deflectors and Sci-consoles to Sensor/Sensorarray, the only thing you boost is the amount af energy you will drain, and some negative effects (like on shields: the healingeffects will be reduced, you can read through, if you activate the skill, and mouseover a beamweapon).

So i can only say: there is nothing wrong with this skill, maybe with the playstyle or BO-Setup of the OP.

Learn to adapt your enemy = learn to play.

maybe you should use an alternative BO-layout for your ship against special enemies:
against Borg maybe you should use: Hazard Emitters (against Shieldneutralizer), and Polarize Hull / AttackPatternOmega (against Tractor Beams).
against Breen: Eng-team & EP2S (to counter BTS or negate the effect), Sci-Team (against SNB) and PH/APO against Tractor Beams.

so all is very easy....
and use the abilities some posters discribted here...so nothing is wrong with this ability.

summary:
Eng-Team / Miracle Workers (only avaible to Eng-Chars) >> Counter the Target Subsystem-Debuff (it will remove the Beam Target Subsystem Skill)
Emergency Power to Subsytem (Shields, Engine, Wepons, AuX) or related Batteries: ONLY negates the disabling effect!! not the entire Debuff!!!

So i used BTS3 in PvP... on cruisers its maybe useful, to force the guy wasting a Eng-Team-Skil...and against ships with low shieldsetting: its the Hell !! Because they are "naked" within 10 sec...
but you have to keep in mind, that i have to sacrifice a Lt.-Cmdr. Tac-Slot!! where in a normal way you can fit in HY3, BO3, BFAW3,... and you can counter it with 4 abilities..3 of them every one can use (Shieldbattery, EP2S, Eng-Team)...

.. and most people have EP2S on their ships (its an ensign BO-ability), and most cruisers will counter it with Eng-Team. So it depends on the situation in PvP, and its not a "I Win-button" .... then the problem is: i can't activate it, as long as cloak is active. i have to decloak and hit BTS3...then it can take up to 10 sec, until the debuff shows some effect. or in PvE i activate it, get into cloak...the skill is 30 sec active, and then full impuls to the enemy, decloak, and get the debuff immidiatly. And in the new B'Rel Retrofit, i thinnk you CAN activate this while in cloak...

I left a request for a GM to lock this thread, it served its purpose.

But Gnom, what you stated is exactly why I complained in the first place. Sure there are tons of counters like Batteries, Emerency Shields, Engineering Team, but when every Tom, ****, and Harry has it, its nothing but an annoying spam fest and it does quickly become an "I win Button".

If you ask me, leave it to Pure Escort Beam Boats (no hybrid beam / cannons), or Science Ships. That way these builds get some love.

I think BTTS has enough counters that it isn't really very effective anymore, unless you have BTTS3 and are heavily spec'd into it at least.
