I think you miss understand Bob. Some will stay out if the que goes 4 feds 5 klinks... someone (especialy premades playing pugs, will sit someone out until the que evens the sides, if it does anyway)

Yeah, we do this all the time. Where is the glory is ganking the other side if you greatly outnumber them?

If it is more that one person short in an arena game which is nominally 5 vs 5, we usually have people 'sit it out' to make it even until the teams equal out. Many people who have come up against SVK pre-mades in such situations will attest that we generally do this.

However as Cap and Holds usually equalise pretty quickly (whereas Arenas sometimes never do) we usually just run and cap while we can :p

So at the end of the game I asked if they just left, and they said no he just sat in the middle of map cloaked and didn't want to die anymore. In my opinion that is just as bad as going afk from the start, way to let your side down just cause you didn't want to die anymore. And coming from a klingon, even worse, I expect that kind of thing from the fed side, lol.
Under certain circumstance "hiding out" is good strategy. I fly an escort & a BOP. In PVP, both are at the top of the priority kill list. Because these ships are considered glass cannons, enemies will constantly redirect their fire at them for an easy kill. Towards the end of a PVP battle, I'll pay close attention to the score. If we're winning or losing by a point or two, I'll retreat & hide on purpose. Why do I want my team to lose by letting the enemy get an easy kill? Sometimes the key to winning is knowing when not to lose. Also hiding out does have its advantages. The best opportunity to decloak and get an easy kill for a change is at the end of a battle when everyone is jumpy and trying to escape from being killed.

I'm not defending the player in your example. Just wanted to provide a different point of view why some people hide out.

Not to overstate the obvious, but hiding out and biding your time is one thing. Giving up, or not even trying, is totally different. Of course, as Yak said, it's different still when someone sees bad odds and doesn't fire a single shot (effectively wasting their time even) just to level the playing field a bit.

I remember this one Klink who was very vocal in tells every time my Defiant-R popped them and their friend (and I was very surprised at how quickly it happened each time - which is not me gloating about myself at all, it was just that bad). Now because of that experience I tend to notice them a bit more lately, and they are doing the same zone in and cloak out routine.

Kinda the same topic... I just finnished killing a couple feds over and over again in a C&H that wouldn't leave there spawn. They where camping behind the base and such. I can tank the turrets long anough to do the job. LoL

Funny part is they where giving me a hard time in zone chat for being a spawn camper... didn't last long as we had all 5 caps.

god i hate cap & holds i dont even bother with them now
keep in mind i got 6 toons that i do daily missions on
6 x 3 cap & holds is terrible same as 6 x azlesa,btrans
leaves virtualy no time for doing what i like ARENA
but when i do actually do cap & holds i fight them like arenas
