I am not sure if anyone posted something about this but I would like to see more of the inside of the ships.

I am an ocasional player and do not have time to scroll through all the posts. Is there any plan to have the inside of the ships accessible? Will we get a captains quarters that we can decorate as we wish?

I'd like to customize the interiors a bit. Maybe have the option of the following.

* Choosing what type of room each is, ie the Bridge Selection ; Galaxy, Defiant, Intrepid Class engineering, rec deck, science labs, and sick bay.

* Choosing hallway design, square, or angled; similar to class design with different color options

*Shuttlebays, someone else touched on this in the forum before, similar options with respect to class design

* Selection of station design, and locations on bridge for your officers. You pick where and what they sit or stand in. Color and design options as well.

*Ready rooms, you may see where I am going with this, In the shows we have seen all of these. Choosing of these and the furniture in them is a must!

*Choosing of what kind of warp core. Say I want to use an Intrepid engineering room, with a defiant warp core. And ability to choose what type of table your engineering room has.

They have talked of having more functionality in the labs and rooms. Anyone care to add to the list!

I am new to this game and I thought the same thing and agree with you all 100%. Would be nice if the ship can stay at warp while you are visiting the interior. If you encounter an enemy contact... your ship will go to red alert and you will need to report to the bridge immediately.

Also, when you are in your cabin, you can access your computer. Maybe they should videos and show the news on whats going on in the sector you are in, etc. Access your bank, etc.

I agree with you Commander Funke. However for some people they will want a simple default for each room so they will not have to pick except from a general template. Maybe the designers could do this at first and then build from there. What do you think?

You got a great idea here. In many MMOs they let you build houses or rent rooms and in those areas they let you (in game) buy furniture or hang trophies won from quests (this would be good for Klingons). Simply put there is so much that can be done with this game. I look forward to some serious and fantastic additions. I am not so much interested in changes just additions. What do you think?

I have thought a bit about the Star Ship interiors. I think we need at least 7 decks.
And the rooms need functions to interact with.

For example!

Deck 01

Bridge, Function= All functions on different consoles
Captains Room, Function= Access to captains' log and edit BO-Files
Observation Room, Function= looking nice ;-)

Crew Deck.

Cantina, Function= use Replicators, games
Fitness room, Function= Skill information, change last skill points
Holodeck, Function= some programmes to try weapons ore equipment
Computer library, Function= Database of persons, places, ships, events...
Arboretum, Function= looking nice
Diplomatic conference room,(Room form first contact missions)

Since Deck

Sickbay, Function= Treat injuries
Labs, Function= Bio, Energy, Tech, same of Memory Alpha but only basic
Astrometry lab= Galaxy Map with all Systems you already visit.

Ops Deck

Arrest Cells, Function= Looking nice
Security Room. Function= Ship Information. Class, Crew
Weapons Locker, Function= Same as Fed. Bank but only for Personal weapons
Transporter Room, Function= visitors leave the ship, return to Tac view

Officers Quarters

Captains Room, Function= Looking nice
BO Rooms, Function= Looking nice

Engineering
Main Engineering, Function= Energy presetting, Ship equipment
Computer Core, Function= Looking nice

Hangar Deck
Cargo bay, Function= Inventory for good for Fed. Outreach programme
Shuttle control room, Function= choose Shuttle
Shuttle Bay, Function= looking nice, start Runabout

Did I forget something?

all this is well and good...

but i think the first things cryptic needs to fix with ship interiors are:

the crew:
the crew needs matching uniforms with the players bridge officers.
the crew needs to be thinned out, instead of having a lunchline of hundreds of moron bots walking aimlessly through the halls.
enable a "crew tamplat" to be designed by the player. for klings that all you really need. for fed, have the primary color white and design the rest. afterward the white is replaced with a random variation of either reed, blue or yellow.

trophies:
the amount of trophies, especially accolades, for the captains ready room and the masshall is whoefully innadequate. especially for the klingon side... who have NO wall accolades. i believe the feds have only 4.

these 2 thins wouldbe fairly simple, and it is what is most talked about from players i talk to. ESPECIALLY the crew uniform template. that should be first priority.

One thing I thought would be nice is the ability to summon a Bridge Officer to the ready room (or any area of the ship), and that officer would come through the door (not beam in) after a few seconds.

i think that the basic designs are fine for now.lets let them get some more functions worked out so anything new in layouts they can hook up the tech.
replicator
a crew uniform
the planned mini games (dobo perhaps if leeta comes with)
a med bay to heal crew injuries ("damn it Jim, im a doctor not a gameshow host)
beam into transporter room or why even have it
shuttle bay/fighter hanger for klingons
observation deck hooked to interiors
chair tech (my medical officer Dr Schols is no longer seeing any more crew members on this tech plan)
oh and the function to put crew/other players or a tribble in the klingon brig

please note that im not adding holodecks or any new idea for a room/tech. everything above is in game or has something close. (crew uniforms is the one that is not in game but fleet uniform are about the closest thing to it)

the ability to do custom rooms has been done and im sure it will be done again so not worried
doing it in sto however might be harder than it sounds. the entire ship is the house and that means anything you can put in you room can be placed in hallway, lounge, bridge, ect. hard points, like what we have for trophies, are limited. split the capt quarters off the crew deck would work at the cost of immersion.
sets of color/style/era packs would be a better option.

and now we have packs. we all know there will always be base game free but the c-store is always open.
extra deck packs
again color/era packs
layout packs by ship type (cruiser/science/escort/carrier kdf only) getting into ship class type would result in massive delays and more work hours than i would wish on anyone. lets keep it to a modest level of overworked, over-caffinated staff. (side note cuban coffee needs to be put in game please)

bottom line with all this work comes with a cool pay off. more stuff for c-store and i could see these deck layouts (cruiser/science/escort/carrier) used as ground pvp maps.
now everyone thank a dev for all the hard work. could be worse. any day dstahl might wander in all hyped up on caffine and new dad lack of sleep and proclaim, "i want to meet and greet the players and give the state of the game from inside my personal ship interior...V'ger."
