come to a complete stop in PvP and just rotate for escorts, and bigger ships just stop.

WTF, you know that you loose close to 60% bonus Defence doing that right ? i see this almost all the time, especially Escorts.

When ships come to a dead stop, if i have been imbibing a few beers i often overshoot them, quite annoying really, i wish everyone flew around at the same speed as me!

Klingons do it a lot too.

It is in order to maintain the forward firing arc on the target.

Its alot easier to stop/reverse and turn backwards in galaxy, than to do loop. Just takes time to deaccelerate/accelerate.

And BoPs/Escorts do it very often...its called rotating turret tactic.

Which sounds dramatic, but defence is a dubious stat - how often do you see enemies miss?

Crazy Ivan? I tend to j-hook when I overshoot my opponents but just sitting in one place and rotating to fire is called "turretting" and its not very smart for long periods of pvp play due to the drastic drop in defense.

The key is building your ship to have some out of arc fire power... I never stop never drop my engines ever ever.
Defense isn't easy to grasp... its not just misses... I really can't remember the last time someone hit a oh my goodness crit on me. Stopping people is what makes tractors so powerful... tractor beams are like a -75% debuff (ok not really but kinda).

Bottom line... don't stop, keep running, break a tractor... and you shouldn't get hit with any Un Lucky crits.

If defense dosn't seem that big a deal... keep track of how many tractored targets you get massive crits on.

you do know if u do a full reverse, your power lvl will drop after 5 seconds.

makes u easier to pop then a ship who stands still.
