I really like what you did with the bridge officer section. where your captain is standing in the middle and all your BO's are flanking him. Makes for a very epic looking profile. Yeah, i really like alot of this. Capt Juan makes a valid point with the gear links being too much to track. but you made a really clean presentation and I for one am very impressed with it. Hope this makes it into the game/profile section

thanks for the added support all, I do understand hesitation on gear stats but I feel that the "hide Profile" function could be used here.

I can see them holding out in showing gear in the avoidance of elitism but I really don't think this game has that kind of gearing.
The game doesnt have that kind of gearing, but the amount of farming or work that goes into obtaining one of those equips gives its some bragging rights. Someone who flies around with purple Mk XII antiproton cannons may not significantly do more damage than someone in green assorted pickup equips, but you can still say the former guy is more...awesome...or something. It also speaks something about that player's seriousness and experience the latter guy may not have, that makes him more valuable in say, an STF.

When gear isnt heavily differentiated, it can still be a credential.

But i agree otherwise, the captain's database can show more than it does now.

I'd love to see the Database be more ship-centric. It should include the Captain and his/her BO's as sub-tabs and place greater emphasis on character background than some accolades that everybody has or some missions that you farm every single day. Entries such as these should be entirely optional; it'd be nice to have a toggle to show or hide them from the profile as I really don't see the value in them and they do clutter up log entries made by the player.

Essentially, what I'd like to see is: you click on a profile and this shows up:

[ Ship Name ]
........|- Technical Specs (part website info, part game setup (only show item type, not mark or special properties?))
........|............|- History (player entry, can also be generated from website interface)
........|- Logbook
........|............|- Captain's Log (player entries, can also be generated from website interface)
........|............|- Mission Log (toggle to show/hide story missions / repeatable missions / accolades)
........|- Commanding Officer
........|............|- captain's profile (includes player entry, can also be generated from website interface)
........|- Crew Roster (order of appearance can be edited by player)
.....................|- list of BO profiles (includes player entries, can also be generated from website interface)

(sorry for bad formatting, forum doesn't like some ASCII codes it seems)

The highlighted part is important. This is the very definition of elitism. If the gear itself dose little to differentiate between players success or skill. Why then should the amount of emblems invested be elevated to a significant measure and set for display?

For every guy prancing around like a peacock with his full purple MK XI gear there is probably tons more taking a pass. Knowing that the level cap will rise again. And months of work for gear with a shelf life little more then the work it takes, is a useless venture.

Personally, when I click Hide this profile... I want that character to be unviewable other than name (at the least). I don't want rank or any other information being shown, and my deepest personal feeling on it is, I should be able to make it so even the name can't be searched. But then I tend to be a privacy freak anyway.

But that is just me.

Although I love this idea, I believe it is called the captains database not the ship database, BUT, I do think that ship info should be a part of the Captains Database as to your current ship. I would love to see something that shows the costomization of a ship as well. Not just Advanced Escort, but what model, and if it is a custom then say so!

Ship Secifications:
U.S.S. Pernicious NX 102378-C, Advanced Escort
Modified; Promethues Class Saucer and Bottom Hull, Phoenix Class Top Hull and Nacelles, Cerberus Class Pylons.

I love showing off what I have done, I really don't know why so many feel the need for privacy but to each thier own!

I'm just curious as to why you feel this way. I'm proud to show off what I've done and it could be a good tool when recruiting for a fleet to see activity and the type of player they are to fit them in a good role in the fleet.

I've used this type of format to research how I might improve my weapons and survivability when I can see what others do. I really don't see how showing off your avatars is going to breech your security.
