Dstahl: We’ve been holding on to some very specific Bridge Officer species so that we can first finalize all the details of converting a Bridge Officer to a Captain. Since Caitians are a premium species offered through the C-Store, we do not want to trivialize player’s purchases by allowing everyone to simply go get a Caitain bridge officer and converting it to a playable Captain. So once we’ve worked out the details of how the conversion feature will work, we will come up with a fair way to add these rare Bridge Officers into the game.
I can see why Caitian bridge officers are being held back, but other C-store playble races have had bridge officer releases as random rewards.
The Benztie playable race is included in the game, so there shouldn't be any reason to hold them back.
Also I would like to know :
Will there be rare / very bridge officer vendors? as for now there are no more bridge officers being rewarded at the end level.
What other races are on the rare and being kept back bridge officer list? hope to see joined trills
I certainly hope the proposed crew system doesn't mean you don't have a "real" chief medical or engineer or whatever. What I mean is: we keep the current BO system (boring) and added to it have these "stat booster" crewmen, that boost, for example, engineering stats, but don't become a full-fledged chief engineer. Chiefs of staff have to be real and dynamic, not just a number!
I do hope that ground combat isn't changed TOO much, since I REALLY like it the way it is.
If we do get to convert a BO into a real captain, do we keep the BO as part of our original crew? I ask because I already turned an Andorian BO I had into a captain, by saving her costume and loading it into a new Andorian captain... so now I have my BO AND my captain.
Will there ever be a way to respec the inherent race traits we got? I assume this would be part of the "change species" tech... Speaking of which, would we only be allowed to change to species we had unlocked?
UGC: you mentioned "locations"... does this mean to access UGC we have to travel through sector space? Seems awful inconvenient. Would we travel to a system, and have a list of all UGC that takes place in that system? Or would we get a master list, choose one we might like, and have to travel to it, even if it's on the other end of the galaxy?
- Love the Tholian, but agree that the overall effect should have more of a crystaline glow to it.
- The saber looks awesome, and I like the whole idea behind the technology add ons, but I'm concerned about tieing the rewards to STFs. The solo player can't play STFs until you guys get mission scaling done. In spite of being here since inception and having membership in multiple fleets, I've never completed an STF due to lack of players available or players who dropped out before the end. Can we get these in the C-store at least?
- The rest looks great. I'm sure I want more, but I trust that I'll be relatively happy with the implementation I get.
I'm wondering if the devs have taken any notice of the current debate on improving science ships. There are a lot of people who feel that the ships themselves don't measure up to escorts or cruisers both on the forums, fleet channels, and in PVP. They may not be junk, but there seems to be a general consensus that something is needed. My latest proposal is for an EW system, quoted below.
What are your thoughts on providing a boost to science ships, like an EW system, so that they can compete as effectively as the other ships?

Perhaps the simplest solution to the weakness of the science ships is to let them have this capability. As the science ships progress through the tiers they would gain EW points. These points could allocated into electronic countermeasures and electronic counter-counter measures (ECM and ECCM for those unfamiliar with the jargon). Each point would represent a 5% or 10% shift in the accuracy of outgoing or incoming fire.
You would have two buttons (ECM and ECCM) each with the current number of points invested in each. Left click on the ECM button and it's value goes up, while the ECCM goes down, and vice versus. No values below zero or above the points listed for the ship tier. No skill / console / bridge officer involvement (unless everyone decides I'm way wrong), because this is part of the baseline capabilities of the ship.
So if, for example, the ships had one point each tier, then an intrepid would have 4 EW points and an intrepid refit 5 (6?). This would mean that an intrepid could have up to 40% increase in accuracy and zero defensive bonus, or decrease enemy accuracy by that much, with no attack bonus, or anything in between.
For further interest we could switch to an "aura" option, by right clicking on a button. This would change the modifiers so that only half as much effect occurred to accuracy, but it applied to an area of effect.
The devs could balance the actual numbers or change things to critical hit modifiers if accuracy is problematic, but this would provide an influence on spike damage and an ability to switch from DPS, fire support, and protection roles.
I don't want to sound like I'm down playing all the work going into the rest of the stuff on the question list but I think out of everything on there the mission replay seems to have the biggest value to me. Why? While Accolades/pts really have no meaning other than a personal badge one... that would allow for many players to go back and complete some unresolved accolades and try out some missions on different settings. Adding to replay value I hope.
Cryptic, if there are ANY paid expansions added to this game at any time, I will cancel my subscription and either go back to xBox Live or buy the Star Wars MMO. I have only so much money that I can allocate to an online game and I want it to be STO. Already I pay $15 a month plus all the extra commodities I desire. I do appreciate the way you have structured it where the C-Store contains mainly extra content that doesn't turn you into a super player. Don't ruin this by making us pay for the expansions. If it's an entirely new game, I'll think about it, but if I have to pay for ANY future seasons, I'm walking away.
I'm uncertain about the Tholian concept design: Tholian Concept Art
After reviewing the data, I realise this is nothing to do with Cryptic.
I blame Enterprise.
I've always visualized Tholians as a rock or crystal armored humanoid.
This version looks too much like 8472 and is probably some pathethic attempt to emulate that species.
Yet another reason I'm glad I don't watch Enterprise, they're messing around too much with continuity of the "future series"
Borg set equipment, well, not sure that's a good idea.
I gave up on playing the STFs long ago, so this item is meaningless to me.
If you want to spend days farming a set, good for you, but it's not the kind of thing I'd like to do.
Fleet Starbases are something I've looked forward to for a long time, but I'm concerned about what you'd have to do to get one. I imagine it'll be reserved for large fleets only and smaller fleets such as mine would be excluded from having one.
Costume slots needs a revamping. I'd prefer to mix and match off duty with on duty items.
I'd like to see a Gamma Quadrant paid expansion, that wormhole at Deep Space Nine is mocking me!
But how would KDF characters get there, considering that DS9 is inaccesible to them?
I have a max level KDF and I do every mission with him that my FED does.
Some more melee weapons would be nice. Specifically, I want a Jem'Hadar Kar'Tarkin.
Look at the top weapons rack on the wall in Sol Starbase to see one.
Yes, it would be nice to bypass the tutorial. It would save us seasoned players wasting time on a basic level mission.
Free Aiming, well, only if it's optional.
I prefer hard-locking my targets.
