This would be PvP Version 3 now right?

PvP has significantly changed literally overnight. Those that were dependant on RSP is now frantically trying to adjust, much to many's amusement. (Got to admit, I had a few laughs myself). But at the same time, as that Engineering slot became free, they were replaced with more support buffs. So much that the ugly face of support buffs is quickly becoming realized.

You think you got that Federation Escort or Klingon BoP as they are down to 5% hull, then suddenly they are back to full shields and hull within seconds. A strong supportive team (even with 1 dedicated person) can literally be unstoppable. You be lucky to even score even a kill in focus fire.

That's why they need to curtail these support buffs so they are more self supportive than team dependant. It may work great for Pre-mades and PvP fleets, but it doesn't work good for PuGs, because it depends on someone playing the healer role.

At the same time, they need to fix the shield system that's been the core of all these PvP nerfs since Day 1, where shields needed to be better and not contantly in the need of being buffed every few seconds.

Fleet Support: Summonable NPCs was a bad idea since Day 1. And Federation players really do have the luck of the draw in summong Typhoons and Galaxy-X's. (In every PvP match I had today, there was one. So what are the odds? )

Cryptic, make this bad buy the previous version with it being a random chance.

The Nebula:

So far, I found it to be more formidable than testers estimated. Good thing that 4th Forward weapons slot or that 3rd Tactical station wasn't implemented.

All in all, while many of you are rejoicing of RSP's demise, I think overall this will be a major negative to PvP in the long run, unless Cryptic fixes these problems. And hopefully they don't take til January to do it.

There wasn't enough support when people were chaining RSP for survival. I think gameplay has changed for the better because people actually heal each other.

now now man, we all know that root of all evil in this game is teamwork. if they eliminated that all together then everyone would win!.... uhhhh right?

nerf team work! how dare those group of people who play together and have fun together beat me all by myself.

The way i see it ,contrary of what many have said ,the RSP nerf hurt Cruisers much more than Escorts. This has become so obvious in pvp.Its such a satisfaction to see all those yesterday "invincible " Cruisers to be prone to DPS burst attacks and focus fire.I feel for the depression this may create.

I think it's still a little too early to judge since most people, as you said, are still trying to learn to walk unassisted again. It always takes the community a few days or more to adjust after something like this but there were some really great fights last night. People were lasting longer in general and yes, I too noticed some support (I even offered some in my escort instead of hording all of it).

Who would have thought that removing a 15 second immunity ability could actually give some people the resistance to being one shotted that they were looking for all along.

@Azurian - c'mon m8, now you are basically calling for a nerf to TEAM WORK? Really.....?

After every major patch we have had one of these threads, usually entitled "Season x.x - The Death of PVP". Give it a few days...... people will adjust. Those that spent any time on Tribble already have.

It would be ironic if nerfing one OP survival power finally makes the real "OP" builds used. I consider this a win overall. If the community of PvPers (including the casual ones) finally learns the value of teamwork, it will not so easily be unlearned.

I wouldn't discount the possiblity that the support abilities we have are too strong. The game is mostly balanced around infinite damage vs infinite healing, after all, maybe there is Aleph_1 Healing and Aleph_0 damage.

I hope nobody believed that the holy grail of perfect balance could be achieved just with nerfing one final power?

The LT engineering slot freed up by the RSP nerf is still primarily a "self-support" slot. It will basically get used for EPtS 2 or Aux to Damp 1, so it's got nothing to do with people healing each other more. ET 2 and Aux to SIF 1 really aren't scary. (EDIT -- and also ES 1. Shows how game changing that power is.)

If you're seeing more teamwork then it's just because you can't count on people to stay alive indefinitely on their own anymore. People don't have extra support powers they didn't have last week, they just might be using them better.

EDIT -- and did you actually complain about the Nebula? Maybe I'm just seeing particularly bad players in them.
