If I do get the game I'll keep in mind that the Klingons are PvP based. You don't have to PvP in this game right?

That is correct. PvP in STO is completely optional.

the demo literally is just a demo. its quite short.

you dont have to pvp as a klingon but there is not as much pve as the fed side, but its slowly increasing. There are currently 19 story missions klingons can play,(they are all very good) with 3 more due in the next 3 weeks. Then in early December klingons should be getting some more missions added. There are also plenty of patrols, exploration sector missions and things to do but it does help if you pvp a bit.

but it short order the new user generated mission tools will go live and everybody can make and share their own missions. so before too long their should be plenty of pve.

Dukat's B'rel is the lowest ship in the game but they are making chang's bird of prey for upper levels that can fire whilst cloaked (from star trek VI)
