Beards act like scarves in the winter. One of my friends convinced me to shave my epic beard the day that picture was taken. (December 27th) The next morning I immediately regretted it because it was so cold outside, and my beard wasn't there to keep my face warm.

I am aware of that, that's why I go clean shaven when it counts. To be quite honest if waxing my face was a viable option I'd do it in a second.

There are a few hair removal options if you honestly wanted to do that. Laser, waxing, There's even Nair for men.

I personally shave once or twice a week. Regardless of what my wife demands. Mostly because if I shave more then that I start to have skin issues....it's quite painful.
