I don't think that Cryptic would release missions that are for such a limited playerbase anyway.
I don't know. Having unlockable missions might not be such a bad thing. It might even be a bit of an enticement to stick around. I was just throwing an idea out. Something to give me a reason to be excited about getting the Captain's Yacht other than it taking up a ship slot.

The Klingon Runabout Mission was ...intresting, the stupid thing about it was that you had to equip the ship while inside the mission so you couldn't realy use it to it's fullest.
It wouldn't be for a limited player base if spun right. Say when preparing to launch you choose what transport you want to take, Type X shuttle/Flier/Yacht. Then if you have the Yacht unlocked it appears as an option, if not then no option.
I loved the Delta Flyer! You could take the in game runabout, add in a few more weapon slots, add hull strength, make it fly almost like an escort, but still, it would be a small craft. Also be sure to upgrade the boff stations.
Now the most important thing, is to give the Flyer a reason to exist. Release shuttle missions, where the plot has you launch a shuttle from your ship, then you control the shuttle. A normal shuttlecraft comes free, or you can buy the runabout, or at endgame levels buy the Flyer, and use the small craft to go through the mission.
Awww, I'm so happy I'm not alone in this. I've been saying for months since I first bought STO that Shuttle missions would be awesome. It would also give a chance to expand ship interiors adding shuttle bays and a chance to expand on the "entering atmosphere" effect you get when you fly too close to a planet.
Klingons get a Shuttle Mission, we get to use a Captured Runabout for it apparently... but we dont get to keep the Runabout, so I havent done the quest yet... im holding out doing it myself till we actually get to keep it... I think it should be a reward for that mission...
That mission was a lot of fun. I would really like to see more stuff like this.

/agreed. Crpytic could even make a mini game out of piloting into the atmosphere. Avoiding ion pockets and turbulence while maintaining some semblance of a proper descent angle and speed.
