I wonder if federation will get a carrier or is it just going to be the kilgon faction who get this option?

Currently the Carriers are going to remain Klingon only so that the Faction keeps it's unique ship. However with the advent of a Klingon sci-ship, this may be re-discussed.

I'll state here what I've said elsewhere;

I have no problem with various types of ship showing up in both (or in future all) factions provided that the execution is unique for each faction.

TL;DR; a Fed carrier should work and feel very different from a Klingon one if they intend to implement it.

Wow.

I live in a world where two sentences, not even two full lines when all added together, needs to have a "Too Long; Didn't Read" attached to it.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to wander off yonder and vomit now...

hmmm if they do give the feds a carrier... i think they should mash up its weapons... 2 fore... 2 aft... make it rely on its escort(players) or fighters.

Sure, have a carrier, at the same time you do that go ahead and balance out this loss by giving the (KDF) a Nebula, Excelsior, Galaxy-X and TOS Enterprise type ships (all tiers they are available for Feds) as well..

Feds, you already got:
-FvF
-Cloaking
-Universal Slots

If they give you the carrier, then we Klingons lose are last unique faction trait.

Now I support the Romulans getting fighters, as they had them in Nemesis.

This is an ongoing topic in the escort thread. Some of us think the Akira Refit should carry fighters.

Is that enough balance?

No point working for faction-specific features, like joining another faction, when you can just ask for those features, and then they come to you. Very convenient.

But it's easy to balance complete mirrors, beyond doubt. It's just no point walking into them, it's all the same on the other side.

Carrier is a type of ship. So is a Raider (the official title for the BoP). What you've listed are not analogous (and are not available to many Federation players are you listed all the C-Store ships) and are individual ships, much like the new Vor'cha Retrofit, B'rel Retrofit, and the coming Nausciaan, Orion and Gorn ships.

Feds had a Science Ship. Now one is being introduced to the klingon empire, via the gorn.

Raptor = Escort
Battle Cruiser = Cruiser
Gorn Science Ship = Science Ship
Raider = ???
Carrier = ???

And of course the Science Vessel's Commander level Science slot and subsystem targeting are already possessed by the klingon carrier.

And though the Federation may have gotten a Lt. level universal slot they didn't get a ship with ALL universal slots. And though they might have two ships with cloaking they don't have all BUT two ships with cloaking, nor any with battle cloaks. And of course... sure, there's FvF PvP, but now klingons have PvE, the weeklies, crafting is opening up and they're even getting a new method to obtain data samples unavailable to the Federation (which one would imagine offsets Diplomacy).

So... what's your point? That certain aspects of the game are becoming more homogenized and thus the Federation should have a carrier?
