Heh. I like to roleplay, but STO turned me off on it a bit.

1. Most of the roleplayers I've met have awful writing.
2. Most take themselves waayy too seriously, though that might be partly due to everyone and thier mothers being generals and admirals. Unfortunately, their presentation is usually ridiculous.
3. My character is a Betazoid and I can't read minds. All things considered, maybe I shouldn't have made my main a telepath even if Betazoids make kickass medics. x_x

Well, there are quite a few RP fleets out there. Finding a fleet of RPers definitely opens up quite a bit of RP opportunities, and many fleets do get together quite often as well. A few friends and I created an RP fleet, and you are certainly more than welcome (as is anyone else) to check us out.

See you around, and welcome to the community!

If there's anything else anyone can share, don't hesitate.

Yeah, how do you enter the STORP channel?

The servers just went down as I got home from work, so this'll be a little hard for me to describe. The way I stumbled upon was actually to create a new tab from the chat menu (should be button on the bottom right of the chat feature in the game) and enter the STO channel. It also let me edit it so I had the tab entirely for the one channel, just like we have one for combat, one for general, etc.

I just have to say, the folks in STORP are very friendly and helpful and thus far haven't yelled at me for asking the most basic of basic questions.

One topic that was covered in the channel, and seem to be appearing here as well, is in relation to RP Fleets.

Taskforce Odyssey has come into the thread here to advertise themselves and say they're recruiting, but are there any other RP-orientated fleets looking for new members?

You can also right-click the existing "Chat" tab - this should bring up a menu with options where you can join/leave channels or assign colours, etc.

I think you can also join a channel by just typing "/join [channelname]" (e.g. "/join STORP"), but so far I always took the longer way through the menu since I have to adjust the channel's colour anyways so that I can better keep them apart (I deactivated zone chat in my "Chat" tab, but put all the custom channels in there).

A couple fleets advertised on the STORP forums, but I have to admit that I do not have a good overview of the current situation.

Well, yeah, it's a hit or miss - but in my experience it's just a matter of time until you've found the right contacts. Don't give up hope. This goes for everyone. :3

I am hopeful that semi-quality RP will develop with the introduction of the Foundry , and players will be able to entertain each other with (not too badly written) instances .

I would have replied to this ahwile ago but never found it. There are indeed alot more RP players than you know. I myself run the STO Roleplayers Guild. We have over 300 active members currently. But we do more than just RP. We have scheduled PVP, PVE, and other events, as well as coordinated parties with Subspace Radio as I am also a DJ there. Look me up anytime and I can get you some information about it.

@ 1 ACR

I'd love to be part of the action. Just about frustrated trying to get some sort of serious RP fanbase together at the fleet recruitment forums.

A lot of the 'claimed' RP fleets have almost no activity. Or just plain respond only to "I'm female and looking for a fleet" threads.

Guess what, I prefer being a gentleman character
