If it's not considered an exploit, it could still be a bug. So reporting something like that seems to make sense to me. And I certainly don't care for people to scream Haxx and Cheat in Zone chat and the like.

I can see the frustration in how its affects on pvp play.
I enjoy the craftyness of the idea and apluad those bold enough to use it.
I also agree that it may technically not be a cheat it is exploiting a weakness of the system and its for the dev's to determine wiether or not it should be changed.

In essence what I get from the description is that one player have renamed his character to match the exact name of the Tactical Security Escort. In addition, he matches his clothing and looks to match them as well.

As I imagine it, it would be like changing the ship/char-name on your BOP, so it only read "Bird of Prey".. So there would be no way to tell the difference between a carriers spam, and the player controlled ship.

The question is wether the issue is a "unintended beneficial sideeffect" or not.. My moneys on the former.

Personally, if I was the one this was done against, and if I got the reply the OP does, I would probably have my own fleet do the same thing against this Fleet.. If every opponent in a PvP match had the exact same name, and exact same looks.. It would not be recieved well by the recieving end.. Nothing to applaud tbh.. Even if it *isnt* a exploit, it is still extremely poor sportmanship..

GDamn Im glad I find Ground PvP as lame and boring as I do

I dont think its an exploit. But ya do think its pretty lame. Now if the role was reversed i know that chc would be saying nerf it. That is untill they figure out how to do the same thing. They have done so in the past in swg. And i expect things to repeat its self here in sto. after all there still the same guys with the same play style.

well here is another thing I have thought of as a result of this, naming allows different accounts to have the same exact name so you could have an entire team all with say "Donkey" for their name and that would make it very difficult to pick the person you wanted to focus. This is much the same as naming security escort but it is fully supported by the naming policy and I would imagine it would still get the same result. This might actually even be worse as when you make your target macro yes it will pick a target but you have no clue which one it picked. Me personally I havent used a target macro in months as we are not always going against the same people and have to keep changing them every match, but oddly enough it is an advantage for the other side as they can almost bet on going against CHC so just macro us once and you are set.

which is fine as other people have done that but the problem is if ya want to FvK it will almost never happen unless you go against CHC as we are the majority of the klingon ground pvp force.
