# 1 Escorts need some love.

But not much. A small buff would be acceptable. I suggest a small hull or shield increase (with current resistance stacking) and a bit of turn rate to bring them closer to BoPs.

I think the STO community would be upset if cruisers were nerfed so some more incentive to fly an escort over a cruiser would be a good course of action in my opinion.

Your thoughts? Flame away - just thought I'd start a discussion.

*edit*
A few people have mentioned some sort of defense/evasion bonus for escorts. I especially like the idea of emphasizing higher defense in relation to flight speed.

There has also been mention of reducing shield resistance to compensate for escorts not being able to dent most cruisers. I agree with this but I don't want to make cruiser pilots too unhappy because it might hurt the game population. If more emphasis were placed on speed vs defense (in both directions) then cruisers would still have their resists with only a small defense bonus while escorts would have a greater defense bonus at high speeds to account for their limited survivability.

Hey Bob.

I have been saying this for a while. I think some built in armor would do the trick and it fits with what the defiant and by extrapolation the rest of the escorts had in Star trek. The term Ablative armor comes from the defiant.

Nothing huge just one built in armor panel with say at VA level 18 against kinetic and energy. Similar to the neutronium armor.

Or even one extra engineering slot that only takes armor consoles.

I'd rather see they do something about the shield resists in this game. Currently there's no way to break an engineers shield with the proper build without snb. This has the added benefit of not being much of a game changer for new players, and also takes away some of the OP'dness off snb. (The power of snb have a direct connection to how powerful a buff is)

imo

I'm still a bit on the fence about it but I'm slowly coming to realize that there is the slightest possibility that I've been wrong about this issue. I still don't want escorts being tanky but maybe it would be better if something was done. It would be great to see fewer cruisers. I'm just concerned about going too far.

Pjokk makes a good point about resistance and I've been thinking that it would be really nice to see something like a third engineering console. Two just seems ridiculously stripped down.

how does -TSI- win?

it only takes a light breeze to kill ANYTHING that doesn't have shields or resists.

escorts are fine, incompetent escort pilots that say otherwise need to be dragged out into the ally out back and beaten with sacks full of frozen oranges, thatll teach em the lesson but wont leave a mark according to bing crosbey!

coherence.. missing....

escorts are fine. You see plenty of them kicking arse and taking names. And you see many that simply FAIL out of stupidity and unwillingess to learn.

Anyone complaining about engineer tanking in cruisers: yeah.... come back when you lose the weapons that can kill an untanked ship in seconds. thx.

Not to mention the ability to outrun almost anyone and escape death at will that pro escort pilots display everyday.

Yes 5 SNBs with PSW and CPB finish off with what ever you want including Tricobalts.
But not everyone wants to play sci, sci, sci.

I have the poor mans version IE tac/psw but its a tricky build to play. Although I do enjoy it.

The point is just because the best teams like to play lots of sci just means lots of sci is very powerful.

Which we all knew already.
