Most carriers arnt specced for a massive tank, i know mine isnt really. Although i can tank fire from multiple sources for a reasonable time.
Most of us are normally sci debuff spammers and secondary healers.

Fun fact: I often find Fed cruisers easier to take down than a wellflown escort.. Escorts take a LOT of agro, so their captains almost always have plenty of experience in damage mitigation.. Cruisers are the exact opposite.
While I find it hard to say that its not true-ish in nature, I must admit it can be easier to hop in a carrier and be stand-offish from combat as your pets do most of the damage with your the player picking off the weaker opponents with onboard weapon fire as you attempt to keep in range.
The downside to this easy-ness feel that comes from the stand off-ish nature of carrier combat is the slowness of movement and turtle speed turnrate. You are a target for the duration of any combat in a carrier, pure and simple, because if (as an attacker) I can get my vessel into the inside of the carrier pets and target just the carrier its self alone-one can bring a carrier down. Of course not without teamwork to keep those pets active or a build designed more for anit-carrier comabt with SS,Mez, or what ever.

What do you put in the commander sci slot? Personally i have just started to use Photonic officer 3. I think the triple hazard emitters might be a tad overkill, especiallyu with PO3

You can't use 3 hazard emitters, global cooldown is 30s so 2 is the best you can do.

Opposite here, Primary healer Sci Captain Vo'Quv with debuff being secondary. Maybe that's not the best setup. *Shrugs* I like pet classes and playing as healer/support and I think I do rather well. Maybe I'm not the best Carrier pilot out there, an Escort that focuses on me can usually beat me one on one. I think though in most of the pug matches out there though alot have given up. I see Defiants running from me in a 1v1 situation, or the ever popular Fed ship that has no shields and just flys in to get blown up to finish the match. =/

Any decent escort should be able to kill a carrier's pets without too much trouble, with a CSV. However, I submit that this job is better served by having cruisers loaded with fire at will, because diluting their DPS is simply less critical to the success of the battle. A couple of cruisers with fire at will 3 will obliterate all pets, and leave the defiants alone to actually kill the BoPs, raptors, and when done, the totally neutralized carriers who just used their healing on those BoPs/Raptors.

I THINK it was you, and if it was, I remember going after you and yes you would die.. but you did have an insane amount of healing/resists, which I had to strip to finish you off You ended the match with 4 deaths by my hand, and like 1.2 mill healing.

Now, the reason I didn't go after the other carrier is because he was in the middle of the fight - decloaking there meant that I could at any time get another BoP/Raptor decloaking on my ass, so attacking you on the side of the battle was MUCH safer. Just something to keep in mind - then again, it might not have been you.

I do however take exception to the idea that carriers are sturdier than cruisers, they simply aren't. If you strip off all the buffs on a cruiser, (the good ones) have about 4+ more powers to use to stay alive just fine until the debuffed powers come back from timer - you debuff a carrier and it's going down.

This is a very disturbing trend as of late - the escorts being less squishy than the cruisers, and the cruisers being spec'd for running.

What-ever. The escort still won't survive focus fire, and we will catch up to the silly cruiser.
