You do not have to buy the game again, but you will have to download it and reinstall it. During installation it will ask you for your key, but you do not have to enter it again.

You could also copy your star trek online folder from one computer to another, that's what I recently did so that I did not have to wait for the download/patch to complete.

You do not have to buy the game, just re-download (or copy over as stated above) from you original disc or computer. Once done, you enter your username and password into the launcher as normal.

What I've learned to do is download my games not to the computer itself, but rather a small external hard drive. Since I don't always have it hooked up to my computer, I'm betting it'll last longer. And of course, it can be moved to another computer when this one dies out. Which may be soon.

I've recently reinstalled my computer and then reinstalled STO, here was my experience:

1. I installed STO using my Collector's Edition STO DVD, all 7.8 GB of it from DVD.

2. Got onto internet broadband, connected STO, the STO installer downloaded about 3.7 GB worth of patches !

It literally took an entire day to install, then download/patch STO... even with a fast broadband.

3. If you try to download STO, then reinstall STO, then patch STO all by internet, i shudder to think how long would it take...

Just my 2 cents...

You dont need a key or anything.

After installing it one way or another, just type in your username and password and that is it.
