Why do some foods have limits to how many can be stacked, and others do not?

Slugo Cola - 10 per stack
Vulcan Spice Tea - 10 per stack
Deferi snow tubers - 10 per stack

there may be others, but those are the only ones that I am currently aware of. Anyone know of any others?

I think the limits on these should be removed or adjusted to be on par with the other foods in the game. What do you think?

One Word: Tribbles

They are foods and drinks used for Tribble Breeding.

I think food should stack like Data Samples.

God would I love to have 99 Romulan Ales in my bank =]]]]

Cryptic should introduce a mechanism whereby players who stockpile foodstuffs have their characters waistlines gradually expand.

well, if we're stockpiling it instead of eating it, should our waistlines shrink instead?

They do not stack by 10.. I currently have in my inventory:

16 Jumbo Romulan Mollusk
13 Cardassin Tasper Eggs
13 Tulaberr(ies)
12 Betazoid Uttaberry
13 Levanian Beets
19 Flaked Blood Fleas
14 Klingon Gladst
19 Ferengi Tube Grubs
25 Klingon Gagh
25 Ferengi Jellied Gree-worms
20 Ferengi Snail Steak
26 Ratamba Stew
12 Aldebaran Whiskey
25 Romulan Kali-fal

... ect ... ect... ect..

But I have 38 Deferi Snot Tubers spread out over four inventory slots; 20 Vulcan Spice Tea over 2, and 31 slugo colas taking up 3 spaces. Not every food item in my inventory has reached 10 yet, but the majority of them have. There may be more, but I won't know for sure for some time. Anyone else know of any other foods that max out at 10?

In my real life experience folks who stockpile food do so to eat it, and eat it they do. like a drug addict having multiple stashes, my personal reserves of tobacco, etc.

But this was just a bit of jocularity on my part. Why one needs massive stockpiles of foodstuffs in STO is quite beyond me.
