# 1 Destroy Target Objects
12-08-2010, 01:22 AM
Hello, i tried to find an answer here but so far i have not found it so i am asking directly.
Is it possible to place objects that need to be destroyed as a mission goal?
I am thinking of things like:
- Destroy mines in a minefield
- blow up a satelite, wreckage, that is passive and does not fire back
- defensive structure (defence satelite, starbase) that fires back

so basicaly an attackable and destroyable static object

Is that possible in foundry, or is there a trick to make something like an single "not-moving" enemy ship that does look like a satelite or something else, and does not fire back?

Oh and i have not found things like turrets, mines or minefileds in foundry. have i just missed them or are they not in?
Picking up the idea above, If there are no turrets, is it then possible to make a "not-moving" ship that looks like a turret or defence structure that then will fire back as normal? (like an asteroid that does fire back for example)

this could be very useful for ground too

I haven't looked at all the space objects and costumes myself, but after watching some tutorials, it might be possible to do what you suggest by using "costumes".

For instance. Choose an enemy (maybe a starfleet or Klingon fighter) that is small and easy to destroy. Place him on the map, but edit the "actor" and change his costume to something else...I don't know if there are any asteroid costumes, but you might see something you like.

Using this method, it's possible to make a starfleet fighter look like a Galaxy class cruiser (but with the fighter stats)

Right now I don't believe this is possible, however, this will likely change in future updates.

Thanks,

If the current Foundry doesn't allow you to set up objects to be destroyed as part of mission goals, would it be safe to assume that you cannot yet do things like plant bombs / explosives to destroy things or place transporter pattern enhancers to retrieve / steal items and rescue / capture personnel?

I haven't tried it yet, but can you currently place an NPC on a map that, when you interact with it, it beams out? I can see that as being part of a mission as well.

It seems to me that the only things possible with foundry are to make missions similar to the genesis exploration cluster missions.

Scan this, interact with that, kill them.

The only difference is the amount of dialogue involved, and maybe getting more clever in how those objectives play out, or swapping costumes around to convey some unique effect.
