With the upcoming loot set we'll all be grinding STF again. Time again to ask cryptic for a better LFG dialogue box, rather than everyone doing mass spam on the zone chat.

Just in case you dont know, we already have some type LFG dialogue box. it is hidden away in the social tab, essentially you can set up your comment as, for example, "LFG infected" and ppl can look at your comment to see what you want. TBH, it not working very well for 2 simple reason.
1. ppl dont know about it.
2. ppl forget to change their comment, and comment never resets.

Be as i compare this game to wow again, the LFG window in wow works very well (shall i explain more? i am sure everyone played wow at least once before). if not for the following reason.
1. ppl knows about it and uses it. just think of the spam on global chat if ppl didnt use it
2. you have to deliberately click on something to get on the list, and the list of split across the "STF". the fact that you can also add comments (ie shadow priest), see other's class and level is a minor point.
3. when you log off, you are off the list. therefore everything resets and next time you want to be on the list you had to deliberately click on something again. was there also a timed out, i cant remember,

You know if they could make a LFG que like the PvP one that you submit your class and ship type to be matched for upto 3 different STFs I think that would go a long way to improving pugs.

I don't know how others run STFs but I always want one of each ship and class. I don't worry if a science captains an escort if I have a tac or engineer in a science or a second complete sci player.

A que that displays class and ship combo would go a long way to putting a group together.

Also a flag for Teamspeak or Vent (separate one for each), please. The fleet I'm in uses a Vent server for all of our STF's but sometimes we still need to add 1 pug to complete the group. It is absurd having to say everything over Vent, and then type everything out for the benefit of 1 person. So when we do add the pug, we only take one that has Vent, and we get them on our server to make things simple.

For sorting sake when trying to find group members, people joining the LFG roster should flag what missions they are looking for. Then when looking for members, you can click what you want for your group. That way when a VA1 Tac wants to do Infected with Vent, players putting together a group can pick the level range, class, mission, and vent, and find players that meet those criteria.

It'd also be a good idea to either have set loot types for pugs, or show what loot type is being used.

I joined up with one a while back and wasn't even thinking about loot until we finished the first part and the team leader took the drop for himself. Wouldn't have bothered me except that I actually wanted a chance at that particular piece. Anyway, showing the loot type would help prevent someone from getting blindsided like that.

also, Nightops, if you need a dps let me know. I'm usually on anyway.

Agreed, having to spam zone chat for a run is a pretty big deal and one that will hopefully go away before too long.

I love how blizzard does their dungeon que system and I would think it shouldn't be a problem here.
Being able to que for an STF, set your role and maybe a note and then when the group is formed it sends you right into the instance once everyone has signed off that they still want to go by a simple click of a dialog box.

I think it was brought up a few times, but I cannot emphasize enough how helpful it would be towards getting an STF group together and it would probably help with getting more people to run them if there was just an easier way to get one going without having to spam for hours just to get a run going.

The biggest issue is that STFs are broken up into sections within the actual STF so some extra work would be needed to the sign up sheet for a group to be able to click a check box or something that ques you up just for a certain section of an STF ie. say your on the last fight of infected and only want to finish that one part without starting all over from the beginning from space.

Actually, yes you should, I've never played WoW, at all, not even a free trial or demo.

WoW has changed a lot. But at least last time i played (like 2 years ago) the LFG (Looking For Group) was this separate tab where you would pick what you wanted to group up for [missions, specific instances (the equivalent of an STF but for WoW) or any isntance between certain levels]. When you queued up it would put you in a LFG channel where you could msg there while you waited for a team to fill up, and where you could see who is looking for what or what team needs what type of class. And I recall this system was added as an update for the game. So it was not originally there. So STO should, in theory, be able to do the same.

It works really well to organize stuff. They should add something like it for STO since there are enough STFs (with another on the way), and they will probably add some other types of end game missions later on down the road.
