While I do like to heal as often as I can , when I get 2 or more opponents on my tail , you can bet that I'm going to heal MYSELF .
that is why you fail. that is why you flying an escort failed, you are continuing the cycle. There is no I in team and if you are going in to play as a team to WIN then stop being a heal hog and give your team support... you would never make it in premade PvP with that attitude... teams of you are the most fun to pop.
But I'd also like to point out that it's not an intitlement of escorts to be healed , and while I don't like it when there are PUGs where ppl don't often heal , I can understand that some players who don't sit in escorts also want to pew-pew a little instead of always watching the escorts fragile tail ... , because belive it or not , that isn't always fun .
and I will point out your previous comment of escorts have less heals to keep them alive... so with that statement said... you pretty much said that escorts ARE entitled to heals because they cant heal themselves and if you want to WIN A MATCH then you will need to heal them... lol so by default they are entitled to heals.
I also blame the lack of a Battle Cloack on the T5 Defiant .
L O L now I know why you went pop... Defiant doesn't need to have a battle cloak... its already the best escort in the game.
From your POV , Getting Healed + DPS = win .
From mine , its Healing + Being abe to Survive on your own = win .
And again you are wrong... You can heal the **** out of each other but if you don't have the damage to kill your enemy you are not gonna win. sowwwwwwy
But I also dislike the EXPECTATION to always heal .
Then dont fly a cruiser... (which happens to be the heals in the game o.O
Because you know what ? I'll take a PUG of Sci / Engineers and clean the clock of your team of Escorts any day of the week .
obviously you have difficulty reading... When did I say that a full team of escorts was wise? I said escorts have their purpose... points to the name of the thread. But with your mentality... a team of escorts could easily rip through your build.... mmmmm fried cruiser guts... yummmm i would be willing to set this up just to smile and prove my point. with the I worry about myself mentality you are toast.
That's the difference between being able to stand and always needing a walker to keep you steady .

Well.. Escorts are the primary burst ship.
That said:
A Cruiser can DPS and be survivable
A Cruiser can Heal and be survivable
A SV can Heal and be survivable
A SV can CC and be survivable
A Escort can DPS and run (or die)
A escort 20k from the nearest enemy does no DPS
A dead escort does no DPS
All I see most escorts do, is capitalize on targets allready engaged by 1 or more DPS cruisers.. Without the SVs to stun their targets and Cruisers to keep their shields low, few, if any, escorts can kill a good cruiser by themselves.

True, true. This does say something regarding damage vs healing/resists in the game at this time. While this is more of a 1v1 thing, I do think the cruiser has a definite advantage over an escort in those situations (assuming similar skill). As a cruiser and escort pilot, I will say that flying an escort is much more demanding than slogging along in a cruiser. But it's also much more fun too! The bigger the risk the bigger the reward, eh.
In team play however, few things are as fun as flying along side another escort (or four!) and pew pewing everything in sight. It's all about teammates supporting each other. Watch that escort's back and he'll watch yours.

This is very true and so it should be. I've fought cruisers 1v1 before and in the end you can leave with more than a million damage on each side and not a single kill from either side.
If people want more of a tanking escort they might want to try the Advanced or Fleet Escort. I fly Advanced and all of my engineer/science boff skills are dedicated to keeping my ship and those around me alive. With something like TSS and EPtS you are essentially getting 30 seconds of fully buffed and protected shields and then you really are quite hard to kill. There really are ways to make your ship so much more survivable. Perhaps try an engineer/science escort build.

2 EP2S and no hullheals.. My Sci slots are dedicated to tractor and jam, two skills I feel naked without today. (offense is the best defense kinda philosophy)
The idea is that with 1 opponent on me, I can usually grab them with the tractor and come out victorious - With 2 on me, I can jam one, and atleast kill one.. With 3 on me, it doesnt mater - I run, because I die if I dont (I might stick for a few moments, if my target is near death).
Surprisingly, even though I try and avoid the battery/evasive 30k runs, I survive plenty well regardless.. Usually 2-3 deaths per match. (unless I fly with TSI, in which case Im next to invulnerable)

Absolutely. I think that's part of what I find so fun about flying my BoP in PuGs. Whether invites went out to build up the group or not, when your opponents are tough the "wolf pack" tactics really shine. Without a word you can pretty much count on a few more BoP's or Raptors to be around and ready to unload on your target. The incidental focus fire with higher burst that comes from this is great at dropping that foe who somehow manages to build up their resists so they can continue to dangle at 5% health.
When I've flown Fed, some of the best fun I've had came from a dedicated healer who took pity on me and/or finding another Escort pilot who knows what they are doing.
