Aye thats a nice design, I always viewed the neck and pylons as weak points on starfleet vessels. I know what I would aim for if I wanted to disable a starfleet vessel....... the pylons.

I think we should move more towards the Death Star design........ because thats going to be about the same size as the competition winners head when they see their ship in game as the next Enterprise.

# 132 Think outside the box

I loved the idea that they want us to think outside the box.

StarFleet in STO isn't what it was during the days of Picard's Enterprise.

The next Enterprise needs to be designed to deal with the realities of the time, War.

It needs to be designed to utilize the most recent technology.

Take a look at the following design:

Ablative Armor
Gate Drive (Iconian technology based)
Transwarp drive standard
Much fewer crew required to operate. Sub with holographic crewmen.

Think outside the box, and have some fun. This design was done in Paint. Didn't have any 3D modeling software, or the time.

Plus, you need to leave some space for the artists to do their work.

And specifically, don't forget the possible writers for a new series. Build some interesting storylines right into the ship design.

As interesting and Unique as that is, it looks more like a runabout than an Iconic Starship.

I personally believe that the ship requires these definable areas:

- Primary Hull (eg Saucer Section)
- Secondary Hull (eg Engineering Section)
- Two nacelles (attached via pylons)

Each needs to be easily recognizable and definable so even from afar you can see each part.
