He's joking. PVP is ruined, or at least been dealt a severe blow. On one hand you have the borg shields which are better than a hypothetical Regenerative [cap]x3 [reg]x3, while on the other hand you have +20 defense bonus + insta resistance procs. On the other hand, we now have another console (the other being the +35% shields) that absolutely everyone is going to use making the game even more cookie-cutter.

Cryptic sucks at balance because they seem to have this silly notion that they can understand PvP balance without actually doing PvP themselves. Whether or not this stems from ignorance of game design or just plain incompetence is the question on my mind, but really all they need to do is start a "dev PvP group" and start playing together and then they'll see what is instantly obvious to the rest of us.

Have the new Aegis sets become so rampant already( day one/two) that they are quick on the way to being the needed/must have PvP equipment?
It seems that way, granted I only did one PVP match earlier, only 1 out of the 8 in the arena didn't have the aegis or borg set

To me, the real issue in PvP is that it will limit how many people will take part in it. If these become the new "must-haves" (and they look like it, from the stats), then people without them would probably just decline to PvP. This will probably reduce the amount of PvP that goes on.

Good points... I really don't see why anyone would NOT run either of the two new sets... some adventurous folk may run a couple of each and try to stack a couple of the set procs. Really though 99 times out of 100 it will be one or the other build. I only hope they release many more sets very quickly and give people some hard choices to make and give us some ship variety.

Your second suggestion is a great one. Why is there not a -CRY- team running around.

Me personally, I think Cryptic should've gave us new weapons to counter the new invulnerability, so people can actually have a chance 1 on 1.
I've played some PvP today, about 15 games on my Fed VA's (Sci & Tac)
and about 8 games on my KDF Tac's...Honestly theres no real differance to 'Pre sets'

The teams that won were organised....end of

These sets are the 'Must Have' atm becasue they are new and no other reason. They do give benefits yes for sure but those benfits get negeated when an unequipped escort gets up your port and blows you a new one.

I play sci/sci, tac/escort and tac/cruiser (and I played these all today) and like i said above theres no diff atm to pvp.

Ok I'll concede that when everyone has a borg set that the regen proc it does will get annoying in PvP, BUT and this is a big BUT:
if PvP stays the same we will have cookie cutter builds amoundo..at least these sets will offer a challenge in new builds as no-one will know what everyone has equipped (the visuals can be turned off)

to me this creates a more balanced and TEAM based PvP experience - one player on your team should not be able to take out everyone on the other team - it takes skill and teamwork to do that (and luck sometimes)

This wont be as much of a problem as long as they keep releasing new sets. Make people give things up and there will be choices to be made.

So...when does the PvP-only set come out?

The Borg Shields don't seem to be as effective as they were a few days ago on Tribble. In PvE they were medocre, and in PvP, outside of 1 vs 1, they were just plain terrible.

Now Aegis on the other hand is vastly superior in both PvE and PvE. I think people might give up their Cap3s for Aegis.

But right now, I think there is definitely going to be some headaches in PvP.
