# 1 PVP Ground-Space In One Game
12-21-2010, 07:01 PM
In PVP, the best players, have the best equipment and focus all their skills towards that equipment. (not to say they are not good players also). This usually applies to space, because, space is the preferred combat out of the two.
Ground combat suffers because,( not that ground combat is bad by itself ), but because, players do not skill for it and so suck at doing decent damage at it, and so therefore do not bother playing it, and complain how hard it is.

I have a solution to help solve, players just building for space, and make more of a tough decision on how to skill your STO Character, and to make ground combat more popular.

Since STO, is a ground and space game. The true Best PVP player would be one that is a master of both ground and space. Not just space.

Although I think there should be many types, of pvp games, ex-just ground, just space. I think there should be only 1 type of pvp game, that shows the true STO champions. This would be a pvp game that has both a space and a ground battle, in one match. Highest score of the 2 wins. This game should have a ranking system, to show the true merit of the match. A space only killer player will mean nothing.

By having a space and ground in one match, players could put all their skills into space and have a killer ship, but would be toast on the ground. Players now would be faced with a challenge, of how to skill your character properly to win both types of games. We will not have the same top players with the same ships and gear, we will have more variable players, and ground combat would be more popular.

After having to endure ground STFs today, if I never played ground again it would be too soon.

No.

Agreed...

The reason my two latest characters havent done more than 2-3 missions total is because I absolutely hate Ground combat and the way its implemented.

I would rather watch water boil than play a combined space/ground pvp system.

I disagree. Ground combat also suffers because it is bad by itself. The fact that to be good at Space PvP requires you to focus your build on it reinforces the problems of ground combat (PvE or PvP),b ut the system itself just isn't as much as fun as space combat.

They should probably add dual-speccing to fix at least the specilasiation problem. Or split the skil tree for space and ground combat. (Dual-Speccing would be easier)

Water boiling leads to tea. Ground combat leads to suck.

Everyone That I have played ground pvp with, always has fun.
To just play space, you are missing out on half the game.
Regardless of the bugs that are in ground, ground can not be considered Horrible like you put it. It is rather indepth, and has great potential to be expanded upon.
Everybody talks about it , like its some dark daemon, when there are many who love it more then space.
I think the devs deserve some credit for their creation of ground combat, and people who just rather fight space period, no matter what ground system is used, should voice no opinion on the matter because you care not about ground combat anyway.

I also disagree, for a split skilling system, because you can not be an expert at everything. If you want to master at space, you are going to have to suffer at ground. By having a Spaceéground pvp match, this will make the games more interesting.

Is it really fun fighting in space at vice admiral, when Everybody has the best Skills, Ships, shields, and weapons. By spiting skills to ground, so all could compete properly in Space/ground, would create many different types of characters, and deciding where to spend your next bunch of skill points would be more challenging then just putting all skill to Escort and Disrupters.

Also a Klingon warrior is suppose to be the best ground warrior, yet none in pvp play ground, and since they dont play ground, they can not be good at ground, and so therefore Klingon pvpers are not true Klingon warriors.

Ive tried it.

I didnt like it.

Yes, when everyone have the "right" gear and the "right" spec for space PvP, it is fun..

It is no fun killing a newbie impulsing around with white regenerative shields and powerlevels at 50-50-50-50.

Id rather run Cure 100 times in a row, than do 1 more Ground PvP match... Sorry. I didnt like Ground PvP in SWG either.

Well, I think they should at least have a few pvp Scenarios for Space/Ground, even if not for ratings.
One example could be.
If you win the space battle, you get to board one ship, and fight ground. If you win that one you win. If not its a draw.
