Why do all the new ship (save the NX) have to be in the high end side of the ranking
Admirals and Generals for the most part; What is wrong with a few ships for Lt Commanders or Captains?
People play at level cap far longer then they do getting to level cap. It takes about 75 hours of PvE to go from 1 to 51 on the Fed side. I agree there should be more lower-level ship choices but most people are only at a tier around 10-15 hours before moving on.
I leveled from commander 1 to captain 1 in 3 days. Once I hit VA, I'll be there at least 6 months, since cryptic isn't raising the level cap until at least season 4.
Therefore, it makes more sense for new ships to be T5, as you won't be able to enjoy them for long at lower levels.
While that is true, playing them at lower levels (T3) gives you a chance to test drive it, to get a general idea of what your getting. If for instance, I try a Cmndr level version of the Orion ship... then I can decide if I want to spend my ONE ship token on that... or the Vorcha retrofit. If I don't get to try it first, then I don't want to get the orion ship and find out it totally SUXXORS with my playstyle and regret not getting the vorcha instead.
Feds get ALL their ships at lower teirs... Klingons get the b'rel (T1) and the Vorcha (T4) and thats it. No carriers, no Varanus, no Garumba... it's kind of sad as an avid Klingon player!
