So you want escorts to have more weapons, more hull, and more shields than any other type of ship? Would you like a cherry on top too?

Surely everyone can see that would be totally unbalanced.

Personally, I have played both an engineer in a cruiser (fed RA/LH and klink CPT) and a Science (VA fed in a sci ship and Klink CMD in a BoP). Both of these I have done well in PvE and PvP. I recently just started a Tactical in an escort (fed LTCM and klink LT) and one thing I've noticed on the fed side is that as long as you stick and move, you have an ok chance to survive and get decent points in PvP. In PvE, it is really not an issue, as PvE is pretty easily survived in space with the simplest of tactics.

One thing I would like to ask, though, of some of the people in this thread who have had good luck with their escorts is what do they find to be the best shield to use to help with the reduced hull strength?

Not trying to hijack, but just curious as I am just starting the Tac's.

All I want is my MVAM. If they can do saucer seperation they can do MVAM.

Sure, there's a bug that causes the Galaxy Refit's saucer section to revert to a Galaxy saucer on separation if any other model is used, but I'd be more than okay with MVAM being added for the Prometheus first unless they've already figured out the model issue. Then it would be a bonus. C:

I would settle for accurate.

Keep the cherry, I don't much care for those "candied" jar versions anway.

The Defiant Refit isn't like its on camera version (no "battle cloak")
The Galaxy X isn't like its on camera version (no spinal lance, no "battle" cloak)
The standard Galaxy class doesn't have the phased cloak although the BOP is being allowed
a feature also only seen once.
The "Prometheus" isn't like its on camera version (no vector assault mode)

Neither Galaxy class or Escort Refit class ship is anywhere near as capable as the on camera version although this can be said of all Federation ships, in my opinion based on my experience.

All this yet they want to give us more broken ships like the Oberth.

I am not addressing klingon ships as I have no experience from which to form an opinion.

But you say they did it for balance.

So by "balance" it means gimping the Federation faction? Clearly that is what crptic has done.
(I was tempted to put an A in there somewhere)
Neglecting to incorporate features those ships had on camera just so the game is balanced
is total BS. It is no ones fault that the show started and centered around the Federation.
It isn't anyone's blame that the shows primary characters were Starfleet personnel.
It is a natural extension of the preceding truths that Starfleet would have developed advanced technology to counter threats, also shown on camera. I would think crptic (again, I refrained from the use of the A key) has more "artistic ability" with the klingons given they were NOT the center piece on camera. The latest klingon ship is testament to this.

Gimping the Fed side is just crptic BS.

EDIT:

I say the Galaxy X in this game is misisng the spinal lance weapon because the type I TOS era hand phaser they mounted under the saucer section couldn't heat my lunch nevermind rip holes through shielded Klingon battleships, like its on camera version did.

You have as much familiarity with canon as the OP, to be honest. The spinal lance on screen took three shots to destroy an already damaged battleship.

As for less capable in general, I could go on for a while about the classes you mention, but I'll just focus on one aspect of the Defiant class. On screen the Defiant is shown dominating other small class ships - Birds of Prey and Jem'haddar attack fighters most notably, both ships being smaller than the Defiant. In one to one combat, it's regularly outclassed by mid-sized ships like the Galor class, which itself is shown to stand next to no chance one on one against a Vorcha class cruiser (which also in a couple fights proves more than the Defiant can handle). In most episodes where the Defiant is alone with a ship equal or larger in size, it retreats after it meets its objective, leaving the opposition in better shape than itself. It regularly does this held together by little more than the sheer determination of the writers.

I challenge anyone to take me head on in my escort, any day, any time.

Then we will see how powerless the escorts are. Not!

The phased cloak was an illegal and highly unstable technology (see what happened to the test ship) that the crew on the USS Enterprise-D used as last resort to get out of the asteroid.

Only the Klingons and Romulans where allowed to use cloaks due to a treaty that was signed by the Federation. The Defiant goes against this treaty, but then again I haven't watched DS9 so I don't know what happened that allowed the Federation to have a cloaking ship.

Edit: Deleted some parts of the post because I had the episodes mixed up.
