I had a couple of goes with the first part of KA today. The first time was with 2 tacs, 2 eng and 1 sci. We got swamped and couldn't get past the third or fourth wave. The second time was with 3 sci and 2 eng (2 escorts also) and it was really easy. Sometimes we were waiting at the gate for 20 seconds for the next wave. We used the same tactic as the first time but the difference was we could wipe out borg with ease. One of us had done it before and the other three had never done it.

I see a lot of zone chat requesting Tac dps for this mission but if your team can set up their ships with some decent weapons then is should be pretty straight forward.

Yeah lots of setups work, things that don't work are generally down to the build players are using and if they are dying too much. Sci x2 with GW3/SS2 each can damage the gate and kill spawns with sometimes 1min+ of waiting (if you have 30s+ till gate opens, swap a tric mine in, drop it in middle of gate and swap back to beam array. Helps damage the gate while not losing DPS for spawns). Cruiser with Warp Plasma and a GW can do nice damage as well I'm told. 2 Escorts or Sci+Escort (cruiser x2 as well, although I've never tested) can also be enough.

Main issue is that if you aggro spheres as well before Sramble is up then you can get wrecked by beamin pt, this can put you considerably behind because of how stupid the move is when stacked from multipe targets.

Yup, warp plasma was one of the things we were using too.
