I've designed and set up six data centers with 100% open-source and custom software solutions including full HA and failover compliance using software layer-four switching, broadcast TCP session sharing on the farm, node-cluster load distribution and heuristic adaptive algorithms.

You cycle your servers often enough to convince one that there is a memory leak or other program flaw in your server logic that should be identified and corrected. You are forced to use instances for load balancing and distribution. You use UDP packets to transmit individual keystrokes that lead to severe in-game complications due to dropped packets (the infamous 'stuck-key' problem).

I love Star Trek, I need a job, and I can solve your problems. PM me for resume.

The way things are going right now, I should be able to start work and fix the problem before the servers are back up. o.0

(j/k but seriously I am on the market once I finish my current contract ;-D )

need more redundancy, were is the virtulisation and distribution of the system over the globe?

at least then only one area would go down not the entire system, base server selection on location of IP address, shouldn't be to hard.

it's very hard to prove the next guy you hire is better than the one you already have. also takes months to find and train someone new (even someone with experience in the general area). so we''ll have to do with the people they have now.

but who knows, if you recruited another 1000 people they might have budget for some else.

Let that be a lesson to you.

I think there's something in that for all of us, don't you?
Actually, I do strongly agree...
Funny how us Aussies get charged all the same but treated as second class members, with maintenance cycles in the prime gaming time...

Over the last two weeks, which just so happens has been the length of my subscription to STO so far we have had 5 maintenance cycles, all taking place at 19.00 till 21.00 (7pm to 9pm) time slot...

I do think that Copernicus was wrong and that the world is flat and at its center is the... (I am sure you can guess the rest).
