You cycle your servers often enough to convince one that there is a memory leak or other program flaw in your server logic that should be identified and corrected. You are forced to use instances for load balancing and distribution. You use UDP packets to transmit individual keystrokes that lead to severe in-game complications due to dropped packets (the infamous 'stuck-key' problem).

it's very hard to prove the next guy you hire is better than the one you already have. also takes months to find and train someone new (even someone with experience in the general area). so we''ll have to do with the people they have now.
but who knows, if you recruited another 1000 people they might have budget for some else.
