No, there is a massive difference between psychological warfare and basic cyberbullying. Psychological saps the will of the foe, not gives them fuel and determination to hunt.

And that's what I did, I didn't go "boohoo", I wanted to hunt this person down and kick his impulse manifolds in. But it doesn't excuse such lame behavior in PvP and making all of us look like the scum of the internet.

Sure I can ignore the person, but it isn't going to stop him from continuing to open his mouth. Besides, nothing says payback more than waiting for someone to make a serious mistake and hit that report button.

Certainly smack talk about how someone took that tricobalt up the rear better than their mother is hilarious and all, but I do see Azurians issue when it comes to more personal attacks.

Smack talk @@is fun and cool, but when it becomes personal and suggestive, that's when one needs to copy the chat log and report the player for terms of service violation.

When I stopped playing at the end of summer, there were players like Kyle Phoenix sending hate tells after you whacked them.

When I logged at this weekend to do some KvF capture and hold, and (by pure accident) finished of Kyle Phoenix and got another set of insults in my whisper from him..

So from my point of view, nothing has changed in 4 months...or...some people never change.

Oh, and something did change however. I noticed that "sensor scan" is now labbeled as sci gank, when you expose and kill a fleeing BoP with that.

you should be reporting the player through cryptic. If you name names of offenders on these forums, your posts will just get modded

Of course it will, but who cares ? As in every game, the victim usually gets moderated, not the offender.

If the in-game reporting would work, we wouldn't have such thread, now would we ? The only thing, which works 100% time is the ignore function.

What's really funny is that anonymous people on the internet will talk mad smack and claim that it's to 'psych the other guy out' or 'psychological warfare' or whatever other excuse they use. But oddly enough, at the few LAN parties I've been to, no one talks mad smack to their opponents that way.

Why do you think that is?

Why is it that anonymous internet people will talk mad smack to me, but dude standing in front of me won't? It can't be because I'm a big scary dude, because I ain't a big scary dude. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

So why won't they talk smack to my face? Why won't they use their 'psychological warfare' in person?

It's because they don't know me. They don't know what will happen if they do. But they do know that on the internet nothing will happen to them. And that's the real reason that they talk smack on the internet, because they can. Because they're too scared to talk to people like that in real life.

So just stop claiming that you're talking smack to psych the other guy out. You're talking smack on the internet because you're immature and you only have the courage to make other people mad when you're safe on the other side of that screen. Cause in real life you don't have the courage to talk to people like that.

I talk smack because other people talk smack. It's a vicious cycle. I hope no one gets hurt!

Hey, Dalnar! Long time no see!

I figure from this mysterious Kyle Phoenix's perspective, you haven't changed one bit either - still ganking him as if he had no skill at all? :p

I don't think anything bad can happen if you just use the in-game report function for behavior in the GM Help area. (I think the direct report feature is only for spammers.)

Why can't we all live in a delicious cycle instead?

I didn't gank him :p he was fleeing from his hit and run attempt, and I just rushed to his position, used aux battery + sensor scan, and obliterated him with my overpowered dreadful beam array escort and FAW3 spam And I was accused of being a coward (the irony is, he was the fleeing one) and of sci gank him.

Completely undeserved if ask me, after 4 months break I felt sluggish and clueless. And playing STO in linux, is not the smoothest experience either.
