# 1 Skillpoint Efficiency Question
01-11-2011, 01:51 PM
I have read from several posts/guides that 7 in T1 and T2 skills is most efficient overall and for spreading points around to have later in a build.

My question is about the captain ship type skills...I know 50% of the skills counts upwards...so what would be the point efficiency for spending points in these tiers? 7/7/5/2/9 ?

I typically go 7/7/9/9/9 but would like to see some math and save some points in tier 3 & 4

Not exactly sure what are you asking here.

The point efficiency varies for each tier and depends upon how many points spent in that tier.

If you are trying to figure what the skill/point average is, well, add up the skill levels gained from T1 to T4, multiply by that 50%, add T5's skill levels, and divide by the number of points spent.

Also, if one didn't care about having to spend a certain number of points in T1 and T2, it would be more efficient to go 5/4/5/4/9 than 7/7/5/2/9. But unless you spent more points in T1 and T2 than required, that probably isn't an option.

You can see the diminishing returns applied as you spend the points. The first point spent in a tier one skill gains you +6 in the skill. The second point gains you an additional +4. The third and fourth point each net +2. Points five, six and seven each give you +1. The final points only give +0.5. Seven points max in each skill is considered optimum because you gain so little on points eight and nine.

Since I see so few places to spend T1 points, I rank Starship Command and Starship Attack Vectors to 9 each and toss a few on the T1 ground skills.

Those are the skillpoints spent at each tier that effect your ships stats. IE: Starship Command 5 points, Escort Captain 4 points, heavy escort captain 5 points, etc.

You might be able to find the information elsewhere, but I actually took the time to calculate this out for myself. See this thread: http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=188882

If you spend points in the order listed, you'll get the most captain skill for the least amount of points.
