# 1 Star ship size

Ehm, so a D'deridex is what, 5 or 6 times bigger than the Sovereign? Over 1300 m long?
Are the ones in STO little sisters or are they limited because of the camera restrictions?
Could a Sovereign ever beat a ship that big?

the sovereign is about 700 metres long and the d'deridex is about 1300.

so its twice as big not 5 or 6 times.

also size on a starship does not mean much.

Size alone is not indicative of how powerful a ship is. But yes, scale has always been an issue in STO and I suspect will always be so.

Well, scale has been an issue even in the shows, where DS9 itself was scaled depending on what ship was docking with it. As long as things look pretty decent, I'm ok with it. Although D'Deridexes (plural spelled how?) probably could stand to be bumped up a little.

True but do you think 25+ foot tall LCARS stations are even in the ballpark? How about corridors that are 30 feet wide and 50 feet tall? Funny thing is I recall seeing a Cryptic post recently pondering why some players make characters with max height.

Or is it giant characters look more proportional given the surroundings?

As bad as ship to ship scaling is, the interior scale is just atrocious. The most recent missions have proven that even in combat there is no problem with the camera in tight spaces. There is no reason why the ship and station interiors need to be so big. I understand wide corridors in places like ESD with large groups of people but the ceiling doesn’t have to be so high.
