I used to think that cryptic was just copying the fantasy MMO's with Sci ships being the Mages.

I was wrong.

Cryptic is the superhero game company. They are not making Sci ships Mages, they are making them superheroes.

Not everyone likes superheros, especially among Trekkies.

Star Trek is notoriously anti superhero, It's protagonists always thwart and ruin any superbeing's plans be it Nomad or Khan or even Q.

Notice that almost all PvE opponents are Sci ships?

I can fix this, it's not completely broken. This is Star Trek!

When choosing powers to make opponents "challenging" please use Tactical or Engineering powers instead of science. Several opponents already have a few of these powers.

To summarize:

Superpowers/ Star Trek = BAD!

Science powers = superpowers/ Star trek = BAD.

Engineering + Tactical powers/ Star Trek = GOOD!

This will FIX PvE. Not sure about PvP. Have to think about it. In case you didn't know, currently to master PvP you run up a Science Captain on the Klingon Faction side and give him a BoP. Who wins depends on your keybind skills and who can "cast" first. Get 4 like minded people with you and you are an unstoppable mob. (waiting in the ques because no one wants to be instaganked or held so....)

Superpowers/ Star trek = BAD!!

You have to admit all of those are Minor superpowers compared to Champions and they all have realistic Achilles heels.

Vulcans are cold and spaz out every 7 years about you know. (and killed at least once)
Data has been broken and blown apart and driven to tears and all he wants is to be human. (also killed)
Odo is a squishy! He melts down every night into a puddle and takes damage if he doesn't find a cozy bucket.

SNB causes a targeted ship to be completely helpless long enough for it to be killed. Now that sounds more like a Super power to me. Sci ships also get to be Heavy Escorts only limited by Cannon size.

It's not all that implausible to draw similarities between the superhero genre and Star Trek. Since its inception, the superhero genre has been much more sci-fi heavy that it has been supernaturally inclined (despite the existence of several magic-based superheroes, there's a lot more mutants, aliens, metahumans, guys with suits, et cetra ad nauseum).
And considering how the science officers are the pride and joy of the Federation, with its emphasis on discovery and exploration, it's not unusual that they seem to come up with incredibly out-there solutions to fearsome problems with nearly unbelieveable speeds.
Hrm. I'll have to commission a new starship. The U.S.S Jack Kirby sounds like a fine name...

Science Team > SNB. Science team is an Ensign level skill. So every ship should have it. It completely neutralizes SNB the moment you click it.

Yes, Thank You for that, I use it.

It also takes up a slot I could be using for some other power.

Just like AP:O, I need that for the pesky Tractor beam Spam, again removing another positive power from my list to counter more super powers.
