# 1 An Escort Cruiser/battleship.
01-17-2011, 05:08 PM
I know this may be flamed as a stupid question, but what if the escorts had a cruiser sized battleship or something slightly bigger, No I do not mean the Gal-X it is a total piece of crap in any real event. the Klingons have cannons on their ships why not the Federations? what could possibly be lost to us having a bit of cannons on our ships? I want one thing and one thing only, A large battleship with much to offer for a federation captain,

I do hope one day we have ultra powerful and expensive ships which would have the following,

6 weapon slots fore and aft,
a super power core.
4 carrier bays.
slower than the galaxy turn rate by 10x
and limited power usage.
hey there has to be a limit.
but I know this will happen one day.......probly in the next year or 2 scince ranks will go up and VA's will be commanders in comparison.

but all i really want right now is some sort of battleship not a small escort which cant hold against anything more than 3 small ships or 1 larger ship of each kind. seriously I have all mk XI very rares on my ship including aegis set and still it was torn apart by 2 large ships. not to mention it is a fleet escort which has a larger rate of survival than many of its brethren,

The history of the federation is not to build battleships. Heck the Defiant was the very first class of star ship build specifically to fight by the feds. Maybe we will see the Jupiter and the other fed dreadnought become playable and see cannons on em. but i reckon they will still be slow turning cruisers and therefore not very effective with cannons.

And no to carriers. Feds have Sci ships, Klinks have carriers, its only fair unless we want to give klinks some science vessels, wich just sounds weird.

I cant possibly see how that can be considered overpowered.

Huh? A super but limited power core? amazing.
And adding "super" to anything, does not make it better or cooler. Leave the super powers in the other cryptic game.

I guess in the future battleships and carriers are different names for the same type of vessel. Novel thinking. Lets, just keep carriers and battleships apart. "Do all" super ships are not as entertaining as folks might think.

What you could do is frame it like this:

Create a Borg Weekly Episode Arc (So that everyone can earn it, because making it a reward for completing all the STFs would just take much, much too long, and I have a good idea to work the way I'm framing it) and an Undine Weekly Episode Arc.

For finishing the arcs, you will get a token to get a ship that the Fed created in response to the Borg (for the Borg Arc). This ship will be large, but fast, manuverable, and can fit cannons, as well as getting bonuses against the Borg. This ship will scale in level with the player, with only the basic design available at the Lt. Commander rank (First rank it would be available at), but more weapon and Boff slots, and more design options would unlock as the player increaced in rank. It would not have good sheilds, but would have hull comparable to most cruisers (except the Galaxy). Said ship would also give bonuses when fighting against the Borg. The reward for completing the Undine Arc would be the same thing, except it would get bonuses against the Undine.

Making said ship fit in with PvP would be a bit of a challenge, but the basic concept of this ship would be kind of like the use of Battleships in WWII. The Garuamba is kind of like the Klingon's version of the Bismark.

As it happens, I already Designed that Ship. It's got 4 warp cores, 2 (1 each) for the "Fleet Killer" Main guns. Plus is got 15 (9-18 inch, and 6-12inch) turreted lance phasers (aka Galaxy X main weapon) plus phaser arrays all around and phaser point defense weapons all around. She turns pretty poor, but with turreted weapons, whe really doesn't need to turn. Plus with multiple torpedo launchers in the "Smokestack" she can punch hard on multple targets.

Although to be honest it's not a very Starfleet/Federation type of ship

So OP is asking for super powers to make a escort class carrier battle ship? I am going to go out on a limb and say no right now.

No right now.

Escort is an escort, Battle ships are..well you get the picture.
P.S. No feddy carriers.

Sorry, but I'm really sick of people saying "The Feds arent really known for making battleships"

The Federation is at war with the Klingons and The Borg at this point in time and pretty much everyone wants a piece of them by now. There's no way in hell that the Federation isn't going to start pushing out true warships eventually, especially considering the main faction they're at war against makes nothing but war ready ships.

but the federation can easily handle those factions just fine with the ships they have. In game you destroy entire fleets of enemy ships single handedly with any fed hip in the game.

What no science parts? It needs a tachyon scanner and three more deflector dish slots.
