Bear in mind that the Federation is not the only organization engaged in a multi front war.

In fact, it appears that all of the factions are fighting on multiple fronts. The Federation seems to be the only faction for whom internal conflict is NOT one of those fronts.

This is less like a squaring off of major powers, and more like a complete chaotic cluster-frak of the quadrant right now.

The war was called off due to the amount of Klink whining.
