Thanks in advance from a Canadian!
You will almost never be able to buy something in a foreign currency for the midmarket rate, which is what you see on Google or xe.com when you Google a currency conversion. There are good reasons for this:
  • Currencies are traded on an exchange and their value fluctuates hourly
  • Banks almost always charge a fee to convert between currencies

So, while you may see that the CAD is worth $1.02 you will rarely be able to buy anything at that rate. As an example, Google lists the exchange for GBP to USD at $1.59 to 1GBP. My bank charges me $1.67 per GBP plus a percentage-based conversion fee.

You can always purchase in USD using your Visa/Mastercard debit card and let your bank handle the conversion if you're not satisfied with Cryptic's rates.

You don't go to the store on Black Friday asking for a refund on something you bought a month ago so why do you think it makes sense here? I too was thinking of going lifetime but decided to wait for around the 1 year anniversary to see what would happen.

I can't lie, I need this conversion done for me too.

Please provide a link to where a Cryptic employee said that.

Look, you got a lifetime subscription. You didn't purchase a "lifetime free swag ticket." Having a lifetime subscription does not entitle you to a ton of free stuff for life. It means only that you won't have to pay for your subscription for life.

You purchased your subscription for life and that's what you're getting. You want more stuff then cough up more money. Welcome to planet Earth. I kinda like it here.

This LTS sale proves one thing = this game is going F2P and they want your cash before it happens.
Pure conjecture. No business in their right mind would convert everything to F2P without trying it on one game first. If it's not for you, don't buy - I am amused by people coming on this thread and telling folks not to buy. Just because you can't afford it and/or have decided not to go for it, that doesn't mean everyone else is in the same boat.

No.

You're the one making the claim so you provide the link.

No link means it didn't happen. Prove me wrong.

Well, someone already posted:

Although technically it says "More on the way!"

Here's your link: http://www.startrekonline.com/lifetime

Edit: then again, based on what StormShade said half a year ago (http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...59#post2757159) that might be wrong. But he's not really in charge of stuff like that, and was merely voicing his own opinion.

Edit again: based on the initial announcement that the perks listed are "some" of the stuff being worked on, you could interpret that to mean they never listed "all" the perks, and that there may be more they haven't mentioned. I'm wondering about that chat channel... I bought my LTS a bit after launch, maybe I missed the instructions on how to get in, or the announcement that it doesn't exist? Announcement here:http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=138904

Further edit: If STO goes F2P, LTS get a stipend, just like for CO. Which is a much more factual "lifers will get more" than interpretations of year old posts. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cf...026797#4026797

Yet again: You could also argue that Phoxe holding blue forum members to a higher standard was an additional "perk": http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...6&#post2440386

It sure does. Well, I was wrong.

I apologize for doubting you and I thank you for correcting my inaccurate statement.

And thanks for the link to the Blue thread. Man that was hilarious! I'd forgotten all about that one.

I'm not the one you doubted; I just did all the research :p None of it was very conclusive, and I doubt we'll get any more goodies, but I did it anyways.

Plus, it was reasonably fun. There are some amazing gems you can find if you set the search results to "Older than six months ago."

This is awesome, I have just enough money.

Although I notice that you can't use PAYPAL for lifetime subscriptions... Is that the case for everybody, cause the only why I would be able to get this is to use paypal
