Tac officer in 1v1? lmfao!

Tacs in escorts are fun to play and personally my favorite, but they are by far the weakest link. I'm not going to say that they need to be beefed up, I'm not going to say that other ships need to be nerfed, I'm just saying your chances to survive in a sci or cruiser are much better than a tac in 1v1.

However, in pvp if a tac has a good sci vessel supporting them they are gods amongst ants, but by themselves they're a joke. I've had a few tacs try coming at me in my cruiser with their escorts 1v1 and I seriously don't even sweat, I barely even try and I end up beating down tacs.

I don't think I'm just that awesome, I just think that escorts suck that much for survivability.

Quick question: anyone got any ideea what the hell is wrong with the patcher? The first 800 mb out of a 3.3 gb patch went smooth now i am stuck downloading 1MB every 2 minutes for hours now. Is there any place i could grab the manual patches or use a bit torrent client or something?

If that happens, just close and restart the patcher - you DON'T loose any progress - yes it will start at 'zero' again on the dilplay, but if you chech the amount left you have to download; it'll be minus the amount you already downloaded.

As to why it's slow. While Champions Online and Star Trek Online are different games; Cryptic has one bandwith pipe; and with CO having just gone F2P; I'd say Cryptic is using their internet bandwith at full capacity right now.

Also, I don't know if you did anything on the Tribble Test server in your previous time in STO - but the Foundry is in open beta test there, meaning not only can you create your own STO missions for others to play, you can play missions made by others; and there are many that are quite good too. <--- Just another item that was added to STO that should be making it's way to Live (still in beta form though) around the beginning of March, if the Dev timetable holds.

I don't know if the patch servers share space with CO's patch server. It is possible that if they do, they are still getting hammered after yesterdays launch of CO F2P. If they don't share then I don't have a good answer for you other than I have noticed some general sluggishness across bits of the net today.
