Heres a good shot of the Studio model where you can see the two 'collectors' so they are canon

Its canon. I would think you see it so much better in dock because the ship is powered down or at least on lower power. Its like you can see the stuff inside a light bulb but when its turned on you cant. Your ship is fully powered up in the game.

you know, that red glowy part on the necelle...
i am not sure what to think about that

it's not realy *canon*, but it looks REALY cool!
it is only visible on the ship in the ship yard but not on the actual playable ship
...IF the player ship will be updated (very much hope so ???) with this geometry, will it be optional?

maybe if the glass (or Transparent Aluminium?) was a little less transparent?

...thoughts?
That rendition of the Bussard collectors on the Galaxy-class IS canon, believe it or not.

The detail; on the Bussard collector (the twin tubes) aren't really discernable on the 6ft and the 2ft studio miniatures (which were the first shooting miniatures - the 6ft for the "glory shots" and the 2ft for the non-closeup ones), where the material used to cover the collectors almost appears to be taillight-style red plastic.

However, the 4ft miniature used later onthe series (and modified for the AGT Enterprise) DO have that little bit of detail, and is plainly visible in several of the effect shots that used the 4ft miniature. It's also visible in the Star Trek Fact Files published nacelle cutaway drawing.

Both versions can be seen here - look at the AGT Enterprise effect shots to see the nacelle detail coming out.

STO's shot shows it in even closer detail than ever seen in the shows save as a blink-and-you'll-miss-it part of a effects shot. The one in STO that you show is based on the Fact Files' rendering.

Kudos to STO's Ship Team for nailing canon details (I bet it was Capn_Logan)!

All this talk about the fine detail on the nacelles but no one noticed the windows ought to be type 2/3?

Ya know....that image is almost a mirror image of this image

You can clearly see similarities with the closeup.
