In Development: Overhauling the body-scaling sliders in Character Customization
|
Given this In Development note, I wanted to take the opportunity to add a little bit to this earlier Feedback thread. Specifically, I'd like to request consideration be given to the idea of raising the maximum height for male and female Orions -- based on 2 very tall Orions appearing in ST:TOS and ST:E.
While the Memory Alpha wiki does not comment on the average height of Orion females, jumping to 02:15 of
this scene from The Cage shows the comparative heights of Vina (as an Orion female) and Christopher Pike (played by 6'0" actor, Jeffrey Hunter). Vina's Orion is depicted as being at least a head taller than Pike. Granted, one could argue that this illusionary Orion female, created by the Talosians, might not be representative of the species. But one could also argue that the Talosians do seem to base their illusions on the knowledge and experiences of their victim, to heighten the sense of believability and immersion -- so Vina's Orion female guise could be representative of at least the upper scale of the Orion female height range, as far as Pike had encountered or understood it.
In the ST:E episode, "Borderland," pro-wrestler
Big Show played an Orion slave trader. According to the Memory Alpha wiki, Big Show stands 7'1" tall.
While these 2 characters may not represent a typical Orion, they do serve to establish that Orions of this size are a possibility. If the height slider is to be a part of the body-scaling slider overhaul, I'd like to respectfully suggest raising the upper end of the Orion height slider (as well as those of Klingons, Nausicaans, and Gorn).
