# 1 recovering an account update
02-03-2011, 03:06 PM
Got an e-mail from cryptic about recovering an account, and they said they need the product key that I used to register the game. I used a CE from EBgames and a DDE from Steam. Do I use only one of them, or both of them?

probably the first one you used if you can remember.

but just reply to the e-mail with both and explain you had two codes you used.

im assuming the op has asked cryptic to recover his account.

if its a random e-mail and your account is fine, then yeah ignore it.

I keep getting emails from Blizzard warning me that they have learned I am trying to sell my WoW account, and to click their link and reverify all my information. Problem is, I don't have a Blizzard account, aside from the WoW trial I had installed for about an hour before I uninstalled it for being utter crap.

I agree with my peers, it sounds like a scam to me. PM one of the yellow names currently online, and ask for a contact phone number to their CS department, and speak to them directly.

Edited for speeling.

Yeah, WOW is having major problems with that, and I would love to just call Cryptic and talk to them about recovering the account, but they dont have a working phone number, so doing this crap online is my only option.

Deleted, you responded to me directly while I was typing it up. Still, PM Stormshade or one of the others like Rekhan with this to confirm it's a legit email.

No no, the OP has been having trouble getting his account recovered, so this is more than likely a legit response from the support staff. This step is to verify that he's the actual customer who registered the retail code.

Try to send the 1st code you entered, and be sure to mention that there is more than one on the account.

Edit: Um, did you copy and paste that or type it yourself? There are some suspect typos and formatting issues in there.
